china just sent 2 destroyers in response to the US destroyer in the south china sea
So they follow each other around radars locked and hopefully avoid ramming each other. It's probably pretty exciting for the captain and crew. It's not the same old boring stuff.

Can we assume this is all about oil like some other conflicts?

Right now it seems about vying for territorial waters. The other SE Asian countries claimed territorial rights also overlap. But China is the huge player. So it's control over water ways for commercial shipping and fishing right now. Eventually it might lead to drilling.

this is bull . According to Seymour Hersh and MIT scientists:

“Theodore Postol, a professor of technology and national security at MIT, reviewed the UN photos with a group of his colleagues and concluded that the large calibre rocket was an improvised munition that was very likely manufactured locally. He told me that it was ‘something you could produce in a modestly-capable machine shop.’ The rocket in the photos, he added, fails to match the specifications of a similar but smaller rocket known to be in the Syrian arsenal.”

There is no such indications. Unless you believe in the Easter bunny. It has not been proven that the ones to use the chems are the Syrian government. on the contrary all evidence points that the Rebels used the chemical weapons:

“already by late May, the senior (US) intelligence consultant told me, the CIA had briefed the Obama administration on al-Nusra and its work with sarin, and had sent alarming reports that another Sunni fundamentalist group active in Syria, al-Qaida in Iraq (AQI), also understood the science of producing sarin. At the time, al-Nusra was operating in areas close to Damascus, including Eastern Ghouta. An intelligence do ent issued in mid-summer dealt extensively with Ziyaad Tarriq Ahmed, a chemical weapons expert formerly of the Iraqi military, who was said to have moved into Syria and to be operating in Eastern Ghouta. The consultant told me that Tariq had been identified ‘as an al-Nusra guy with a track record of making mus gas in Iraq and someone who is implicated in making and using sarin.’ He is regarded as a high-profile target by the American
    military.”

Sorry but either you are completely wrong or you are lying or both. Syrian government did NOT use chemical weapons. It was most likely the rebels.
Nope there is way too much of this type of crap everywhere.

This and all the UN stuff is overwhelming.
You have some sort of hard on for "beautiful Syria" but the Assad's have been butchers. You should read about what the elder Assad did to Hama.

    quoting the NYTimes

There has been absolutely no evidence whatsoever Assad ordered those attacks. Most experts suspect it has been the rebels. They have been proven to have attacked assads soldiers with it first. And then did it again but this time attacking civilians right when UN inspectors landed in Syria.

    Stop spewing bull and lies

And regarding your guardian article that is just an informative article from a rebel "doctor" who testified in Congress. He is not an unbiased analyst. So his point of view is irrelevant.

Here is a better article depicting conclusions from unbiased analysts and scientists:

You challenged sources you moron. Don't blame me for your cherry picking off the RT tree.

Oh so you post a supposition from a book in which an author is going to make money off of being a gadfly? This was ONE chemical attack. ONE. And it goes against what the UN found.

    For profit BS.

Do you believe the US went to the moon?
Do you believe the US aided in the 9/11 attacks?

Probably. The govt has admitted to paying for war propoganda in the past. Why not now?

The only difference between the US Empire and all the other terrible countries in the world is the US has better PR.

If you can't understand that by now with all that's happened post 9-11 you're hopeless.

Agree. The CIA and even "aid" organizations like USAID have been proven again and again they have been involved in regime changes, bribes and extortions overseas.

It takes an idiot to believe the US mainstream media is not in on the trick as well.

LMAO let me get this straight. You are taking the conclusions of a rebel doctor at face value. And taking the conclusions of a renowned writer and another MIT scientist as Assad propaganda. I guess they must love the Assad regime over at the MIT

    you are hopeless

What does the MIT have to gain by keeping Assad in power?

The CIA payed for war propaganda via the NY Times...

How do you know? Give me something legit to read please.

Unlike others on this board I would like sources that are willing to dig anywhere and attempt to give us the truth.

You say science and it's over? Sorry, I work in the field, I have witnessed many people step outside their fields and get hammered. These are not forensic experts nor are they gathering evidence from a variety of sources. So what other gassing sites did they visit? There is not just one.

The Syrian Improvised Chemical Munitions that Were Used in the August 21,
Nerve Agent Attack in Damascus Have a Range of About 2 Kilometers

This Indicates That These Munitions Could Not Possibly Have Been Fired at
East Ghouta from the “Heart” or the Eastern Edge of the Syrian Government
Controlled Area Depicted in the Intelligence Map Published by the White
    House on August 30, 2013.

This faulty Intelligence Could Have Led to an Unjustified US Military Action
    Based on False Intelligence.

A Proper Vetting of the Fact That the Munition Was of Such Short Range
Would Have Led to a Completely Different Assessment of the Situation from
    the Gathered Data

Whatever the Reasons for the Egregious Errors in the Intelligence, the Source
of These Errors Needs to Be Explained.

If the Source of These Errors Is Not Identified, the Problems That Led to this
Intelligence Failure Will Go Uncorrected, and the Chances of a Future Policy
    Disaster Will Grow With Certainty.

Read the PDF do ent. It shows scientifically the the rocket could not possibly have come from Assad's territory.

The analysis is made using UN evidence and photographs and White House theories. Then it shows the calculations of the possible range taking into account everything from drag coefficient, rocket density, air flow etc. It's a complete scientific analysis and It basically proves that the white house's story is flawed and false.

you can't really dispute it. tbh

It has not been proven that Assad used chemical weapons. Is it possible he could have? sure. But unless there is scientific proof, you might as well believe in the Easter bunny.

And you can't go to war (like white house wanteed) on easter bunny theories

    Good segue...

    Jesus....

You have some Assad loving going on here.
And you have no idea of how to use science properly.

    Lets think back...
You are the poster that posted " s about to get real" upon ANY little tidbit that came in.
Chechens fighting in Syria, Chinese warships in the area

And then you claim I LIKE CNN and FOX when you pounce on absolute like the above?
    Seriously?
You are a perfect fit for that news, you could be an editor or anchor for sensationalism.
Hang yourself up in the grocery check out lane, someone is bound to fondle you.

    So as sources go....

And I will take a closer look at the very limited research done by "MIT"
Which does little to prove Assad was not behind it as I skim THIS SINGLE event.

    Work calls.
