All that said, if Tim retires, Noah may be the best the Spurs can afford. That's even more true if Tim and Manu opt in before retiring. I think the key to getting a more effective Noah is to play him less, and with LMA getting some minutes at the five and Boban and potentially Milunitov being on the roster, I think it's possible to keep him under 30 mpg.
    No thanks

Who do you think you think is going to start at the five if Duncan retires next season? Serge Ibaka isn't walking through that door.

It's not the best list, especially considering the fact that the Spurs will likely be at a financial disadvantage to the majority of teams.

If he'd sign at a reduced price? Sure. And especially if Duncan retires. His assist and assist-to-turnover rate are both outstanding-- better than Boris Diaw's.

Spurfan wants a big that can defend, score, pass, rebound, block, be a great locker room guy, has to be in his prime.... All for 10M or less

Noah would be a great fit when Duncan hangs them up. Hopefully Parker can give us another gem of a signing. Don't see why two former DPOY winners on the same team is a bad thing....

i think Noah still has something left in the tank. and i think he's absolutely the type of vet the spurs could rejuvenate. but i think his personality is too firey for the spurs. Pop likes em submissive and quiet.

Pass. Worst shooting mechanics -- EVER. Decent defender and rebounder, tho.

I'll take Horford, Nene and Mozgov over Noah... frankly, I wonder what the asking price would be on Hibbert... I know him and Tim are close...

Noah is a bag... and character does matter to the Spurs...

Keep in mind this guy is playing in the East against lesser compe ion...
    East bigs:
Horford, Mozgov, Nene, Millsap, Pachulia, Olynyk, Monroe, Drummond, Whiteside, Thompson, Gortat etc.

    Western bigs:
Duncan, Aldridge, Gasol, Jordan, Bogut, Ibaka, Nowitzki, Favors, Gobert, Davis, Asik, Howard, Cousins etc.

Not really comparable, the talent in the West kills the East. Last year the Spurs played the 56 win Clippers in the 1st, last year the Bulls played the 41 win Bucks in the 1st. Big step up in compe ion. The 6th seed 41 win Bucks team would probably finish 11th in the West.

Why would the Spurs want a former All-Star with French roots that is currently a below average player? Doesn't really seem like it would fit with this current team..

Well Horford is ideal, but I'm assuming he's priced out of the Spurs' range (best case is about $15 Million in cap space assuming Diaw stays). Nene has been done ever since he took Noah's cookie. I'd be willing to have him replace West as the bench center (and would pay him a decent amount to do it), but I dunno if I'd give him starter's money, as he isn't really a starter anymore. Mozgov is probably the only one who's attainable and a potential upgrade. And all it takes is one team offering a max to take him away. Then you end up having to overpay Fetus Ezeli. Maybe there's an awesome big that's going to be available in the draft, but honestly, the Spurs better pray that Tim doesn't retire until 2017.

You know, you shouldn't discount Bonner coming back for yet another year, and he's started before, tbh

There's trades that could be made too, tbh... trading back for Splitter shouldn't be out of the question either...

The guy has flamed out early playing for Thibs just like Deng. His body has broken down & there is no turning back. Hibbert is a more likely option if he has a bounce back season.

You think Noah comes for less than the MLE? There are 29 other teams out there and at least one always does dumb things. If he performs at last year's level adjusted for less minutes, someone needy of a big will give him money and hope for a reclamation project. I mean, Aron Baynes got $6mm.

That said, I didn't realize he has two points in 42 minutes this year. That's kind of bad.

Is the MLE all the Spurs have to offer when he's a free agent?
