Is the MLE all the Spurs have to offer when he's a free agent?
He doesn't deserve anything more than the MLE until he proves that he can play at a high level to be a legit starter & at the same time stay healthy. I remember Chandler having a career revival once he landed in Dallas (same w/ Camby in Denver) but Noah looks shot beyond repair at this point b/c he's an old 30 yr old w/ a chronic knee issue.

If we are talkin about vets that could be had for a bargain then I would rather have a healthy Hibbert whose only major issue happens to be a shaky confidence. Otherwise, he tore DPOY Chandler & All-Star Bosh another one in 2013 when his confidence was sky high. He can just clog the paint & block shots while LMA does the rebounding/scoring. He was able to contain the same Boogie that destroyed DeAndre in his previous game & can come in handy against Westbrook's kamikaze drives to the hoop w/ his verticality. He's unplayable against small ball lineups but that's Diaw' job. Guy like Gobert/Ezeli/Whiteside are going to get a max offer & Noah is from Brooklyn so he might want to play for the Knicks, actually he would be perfect for the triangle offense.

Knicks look like they're crowded at center right now. They have Robin Lopez locked up for the next four years and Porzingis is going to need as much playing time as possible to adjust to the NBA. Wouldn't make sense to sign Noah next summer either since the Knicks still have their 2017 pick and will probably be looking to tank next year for a top 5 prospect.

[QUOTE=cjw;8244015]You think Noah comes for less than the MLE? /QUOTE]

As I said a few posts back, the Spurs will probably have some cap space next off-season, but they won't have a ton. They'll only be able to pursue lower second-tier and third-tier guys.

There's trades that could be made too, tbh... trading back for Splitter shouldn't be out of the question either...
Yeah, we've been saying that. Not just Splitter. There are some options around the league that would make sense if those teams want to sell. But I dunno if I'd give up Anderson or a pick to get them over Noah.

It's kinda early to worry, IMO... while it's ok to speculate, I think what happens next year is largely dependent on how we do this season. Meaning, if the Spurs do really, really well, I expect the entire team to pretty much look the same, barring catastrophic injuries...

Yeah, it would be the biggest need in Spurs history.
You missed the word desperately? Yes we'll need to fill our C spot once Tim retires, but not with another declining player that isn't even one-dimensional anymore because he doesn't offer any decent defense. He'll also probably command a good amount of money.

It would certainly be an upgrade at the point guard position. We can give them parker. With lunch money, but please. ..just take Parker

No, I didn't miss the word. They WOULD be desperate to replace him, more than they ever have been in their history.

I'll take Horford, Nene and Mozgov over Noah... frankly, I wonder what the asking price would be on Hibbert... I know him and Tim are close...

Noah is a bag... and character does matter to the Spurs...
I think ElNono is being too kind. " bag" is a bit light.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Splitter will be the next starting C of the Spurs, if Duncan plays out his contract. They probably have a wink wink agreement with him and the Hawks may even know about it.

Essentially, they rented a starting C (even though he's obviously their third big) for free, for two years.
