Knee down 1
Knee down 2
12th man

Insane play.
Apparently this play shouldn't have counted though. According to post-game reactions:
-#1's Knee was down before the lateral
-There were 2 blocks in the back
-Miami had 12 players on the field when they scored that TD as a player from the sideline ran onto the field well before the player Crossed the goal line , and
-A Miami player was illegally running downfield with his helmet off.
Literally like 5 different uncalled violations on that one play apparently![]()
Thankfully we live in a world where fate simply will not allow Duke to be good in both basketball and football.
it was a scoring play, why was it not reviewed in full?
I mean it was the last play of the game and a vital play at that. I know it was mass confusion out there, but a review should have still taken place, and I mean a thorough review. None of the penalties would have been able to be enforced, but the knees being down would have been.
Duke was robbed....I wonder if their HC tried to get a review...
ACC Suspends Officiating Crew That Allowed Miami To Beat Duke
The Atlantic Coast Conference has suspended both the on-field officiating crew and the replay official for allowing Miami’s game-winning kickoff return to stand during last night’s game against Duke. The ACC determined at least four errors contributed to the officials’ failure of duty:
- The replay official erred in not overturning the ruling on the field that the Miami player had released the ball prior to his knee being down. If called, this would have ended the game.
- The on-field officials erred by failing to penalize Miami for an illegal block in the back at the Miami 16-yard line. If called, the ball would have been placed at the Miami 8-yard line and the game would have been extended for an untimed down.
- A block in the back foul was called at the Duke 26-yard line. After the officials conferred, which is appropriate, they correctly determined that the block was from the side, which resulted in the flag being picked up. The replay official was not involved in the decision to pick up the flag; however, the referee did not effectively manage communication and properly explain why the flag was picked up.
- In addition, the on-field crew failed to penalize a Miami player for leaving the bench area and entering the field prior to the end of the play. This foul would not have negated the touchdown because it would have been enforced as a dead ball foul.
The officials involved have yet to respond, though we imagine “we were blinded by the play being too awesome” is a fair excuse.
They need to make a rule regarding ends of game lateral bull .
Maybe a 3 lateral max rule. Nobody wants to see a team win on garbage like that.
I would be outraged, but as others have said, Duke. If Texas can get hosed and everyone shrugs their shoulders because it's Texas then Duke's got ass can get some too.
Dook. Their basketball team gets more flop calls than Durant and Harden put together. Their football team got so many bull calls during the rest of that game. Two bogus PI calls on Miami down the stretch, and Dook got handed their last TD despite not crossing the plane. Nobody should have any sympathy for those gots.
The fact that the ACC is only making a fuss about the last play proves once again that they're the All Carolina Conference.
Totally insane play.
that. Everyone loves to see a game end on a play like that, just not when there are literally a half dozen violations that are flat ignored during the play. From what a lot of people said, that officiating crew was pretty ing terrible the whole game. You don't change the rules because one officiating crew can't do their job.
No, you change the rules because fifty desperation laterals isn't football. It's garbage monkey ball.
Trick plays are part of the game, as are fluke plays, they have been going on forever.
A play like we saw from Cal/Trinity/Miami are good for the game. Only some scrooge would...Bah Humbug.
Clearly you need to brush up on the history of the game, because laterals are more a part of football than the ing forward pass. If you're going to limit laterals then you should eliminate punt returns and hail marys as well.
This was shown eleventy billion times in San Antonio.
Everyone was flat out exhausted. FB players should not try to run a 5k with pads at the end of the game.

It was a robbery but special teams themselves, tbh. I'm not as mad about it as most fans are. We weren't winning our division with our got ass head OC calling re ed all season
Right because the ol 30 lateral play is ingrained in the fabric of football just like the ing forward pass.
I had no idea there were so many that are indifferent or actually like it.
