    I actually feel a little bad for Kobe when you compare it to Jeter's final season, in which he was equally as bad as Bryant but managed to get the entire league to suck his . At least Kobe didn't announce his retirement during training camp.

    Ya, I remember the Jeter criticism only coming from hardcore fans and non-mainstream media..

    I guess the difference is that the basketball player has a more prominent role..

    I don't really feel bad for Kobe, after thinking about it..he doesn't give a about the opinions of the media or fans.. is getting paid 20+ million per year to shoot as much as he wants, the road fans pay to see him and most casual Lakers fans still go to the games to see him, as well..sucks for hardcore Laker fans since he's clearly killing the growth of their young guys, but it's not like having Byron Scott is any better..

    Still, though, can't believe some of you guys tried to deny that Kobe would be one of the most entertaining players in the league, this season..every Lakers game thread and Kobe thread generates more traffic than anything else on this forum, and he probably leads the league in vines/tweets, right now..

    Probably the most entertaining player in the entire league, validating his contract IMO..

    fans dont gain anything by their team making some extra $... we're talking from a basketball perspective. its one of the worst contracts in sports history

    Easy to say that looking back now that the highest payed player in the league is one of the worst. Do not give a free pass to the Buss children and Chaz, they think like Dale thinks, he was putting up 25/5/5 and deserved it.

    You're right. From a business perspective the contract seemed to make sense, but that's only if he wouldn't have signed for less which I think he would have.

    Would it be a good move to sign James to 100m a year?
