i'm simply asking about pocket passing
With the same weapons I'd take Cam.

we saw Cam with Steve Smith and Greg Olsen for his first 3 seasons and he never had a passer rating above 90 in those years

He was also young, an undeveloped passer and never had a #2 receiver.

Newton has progressed the past two years with losing a mul ude of weapons, and then losing our only great receiver on the team. He is forced to actually make reads (unlike when he was a gunslinger his first year), and he can actually read defenses now. His passing is crisp, as you've seen this year… and the only reason his completion percentage is is because of Ted Ginn and Devin Funchess inability to catch the ball… I'm pretty sure they have at least 15 drops between them.

Carr is also young, and was pretty raw coming of of college (excelled in a typical college/gimmick spread offense)... the progress he's made this year is incredible. he's miles ahead of Newton strictly as a pocket passer. he has also resurrected Crabtree's career... just like how Flacco resurrected Steve Smith

both crabtree and smith said their new QB's did a better job of getting them the ball...

If we're talking about where they were in their second years, then I agree that he's ahead of where Newton WAS. But I don't think he is better at this moment, and I don't think he has the pedigree yet to prove it. This could be his breakout year… or he could implode. We saw Nick Foles throw for 22 TD's and a pick. We also saw Michael Vick do something similar.

the problem is... newton's passing numbers were better in his first 2 years than any other point in his career

That's why looking at stats don't give you the whole picture.

and yet you have no problem ing up a storm when you talk about cam's early career stats/records

cam has always been an inconsistent passer from within the pocket, it's not some new, revolutionary claim. it's not the strength of his game

Now is the time to tank. Romo, Dez, Witten, and Lee need to go vacation together for the rest of the holiday season and have some fun, because it's no use spinning wheels over a lost season. Sign Hardy and McClain to contract extensions, get a top 3-5 pick, draft a high profile receiver with pick #1 and two guys for the secondary with the 2 of the next 3 picks around drafting the QB for the future (or trading a pick for someone like Garrappolo). With the rest of the picks, a nose tackle and perhaps a power running back can be drafted.

Oh well, rooting for the Panthers to win it this season... as long as Green Gay loses I'm pacified, tbh...

Huge blessing in disguise. We learned to play without him and we're well on our way.
