This isn't the first time she has finished a fight with a head kick
You can't use that when YOU'RE the one making outrageous claims. We're the ones just taking it at face value so making it seem like we're crying about things doesn't make any sense
Wow dude. I can't believe you of all people are drinking the kool-aid. Sad to see.
The UFC isn't about MMA anymore. It has taken decades for the sport to gain the credibility it has today...and Dana has ruined it in a few short years trying to squeeze as much money out of it as he can. I might catch the occasional big headline card like the one next month, but otherwise Dana and the UFC.
Sorry man, I'm no fan of Dana White and think he's done a fair share to hurt (and help) the sport, but there's a HUGE reach to go from "Dana White sucks" to "this is rigged". MMA is entertaining precisely because you get results like this and they happen all the time due to stylistic differences and champions that get supremely overconfident (Silva - Weidman, Barao - Dillishaw).
Nothing I saw last night suggested it was a setup. I saw a fighter letting her anger get the better of her and thinking she's untouchable against a world class kickboxer. The UFC just lost it's most recognizable athlete -- how can you say Dana WANTED that?
He didn't lose anything. He'll get it right back in the rematch.
Yeah, there's definitely nothing special about marketing an undefeated fighter.![]()
Taking a dive does not involve getting your face rearranged. She got beat up. Rousey walked into elbows and punches from a puncher.
Rousey could just have tapped out of something.
And i I would be essentially unsurprised if Rousey won the rematch. She knows she lost her composure and got beat up. And both of them know Rousey will do a better job next time. She just got spoiled with opponents that gave her no real problem. If anything, she will get better.
As far as the fight being rigged that is just hilarious. The UFC hype train around Ronda required her to keep winning for as long as she could. So much of the shine now comes off for her hype. And no I don't buy into well she will just win it back in a big rematch, so they fixed the first fight. The UFC obviously wanted no part of Holly winning because of the money they have invested in Ronda. But it happened, that's MMA.
Anyone who actually watched that fight understands it was legit. She went in there and got beat up and violently finished.
So you are telling me that she volunteered to get her face rearranged? When somebody takes a dive, it is usually a quick punch and they fall down and don't get back up.
Ali and Sonny Liston the rematch. That is a classic example of somebody taking a dive.

Jesus...you guys act like it's your first time watching MMA.
Any time you walk into the octagon you are volunteering to get your face rearranged. It's full ing contact fighting. No matter the outcome, there's a better than average chance your face is going to get ed up. That's why I said weeks ago it works out perfect that its a boxer. She can stand in front of her for a round to make it look good and go down in the second. She probably didn't really want to get kicked in the head like that, but hey, that's the price you pay when you take one for the team. Doing a Liston/Tyson type dive would be painfully obvious and the media would run Dana and Ronda over the coals.
The Ronda hype train was annoying and she was finishing fights way too fast. People were starting to see through it. Why do you think Dana had to manufacture some sort of fake beef between her and Correa? He needed a gimmick to get PPV buys. Now that she has lost, you have her haters who normally wouldn't care to watch her and her supporters who think she just took the fight too lightly all lined up and ready to buy the rematch.
But who knows...maybe I am talking out of my ass. We will see what happens with the rematch. If it turns out the same, I'll gladly eat crow. ...no one wants Ronda to go away more than I do. But now we risk it getting even more annoying, as Dana will have every evangelical in the US becoming a Holly Holm fan. Ugh.
I'm assuming you're pulling some sort of reverse post fight jinx and don't actually believe what you're saying. Rhonda lost the fight. She wasn't properly prepared. It's possible she believed her own hype. If her managers were fixing the fight, she wasn't clued in because she got her ass kicked. Any sort of 'fix' didn't involve her...maybe her trainers and managers underprepared her to fight a boxer, but that's a stretch. If she was tanking the fight she would have done so much sooner than the "shin-to-chin" shot that took her down. And now it will be hard to market the most dominant fighter in the world when she no longer is that. Her whole gimmick is her gloating about her dominance...I suppose your theory includes a new humble, more contrite persona? Or some attempt at being the underdog now, even though she's an asshole? And what about all the people that have gone on record singing her praises as the best fighter ever prior to the fight? How many of those folks will ever line up to do that again? I believe Holly would beat her again. She's bigger, stronger, faster, and the better puncher, and she'll get better as she learns the sport. Heck, there are probably quite a few other folks that will beat Rousey now that she's been exposed. She's a one trick pony.
Your analysis is interesting, but a reach.
An athlete like Ronda doesn't take a dive for some extra money. Sorry you are cynical dude.. Would Tim Duncan throw the NBA finals for a few extra million?
Yep throwing a non le fight, sure --- le fight, yeah right, not going to happen.
Plus it looks like the Cyborg/Rousey fight was even closer than before to happening.
I think because Dana comes off like he rules the UFC with an iron fist, people make wild assumptions about fighters doing whatever they are told to do.. But in reality Dana has had so many feuds with the likes of o, Rampage, Couture, Hendo, Jones etc, over money and other issues.. No great champion takes a dive... Doesn't happen.
...did you really just compare w
men's MMA to pro basketball? And I'm the one reaching?
