    seriously?

Maybe you should write the American Chemical Society and tell them to stop research on climate change and remove their recommendations from their website: http://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/po...atechange.html

How un-American of the leading society of American chemists. Traitors!
Thank you. More to add to my reading list. Sigh. Good day yesterday - Google interview/Federer beats Djokovic. Bad day today - Citrix lays off 1000 in Fort Lauderdale - more compe ion.

I dunno know. Maybe I think that for generations we've passed on our customs, beliefs, language, traditions, etc. to our children. But now, somehow, we should just let them float around, leave them to their own devices and let them do whatever they want to do?
well I don't know any good parent that thinks letting kids do whatever they want to do is a good thing.

But as long as the kids aren't being mistreated or harmed, it's really not your concern about what parents want to teach their kids about religion. And it's certainly not the public schools concern either.

rofl tho at the slippery slope from atheistic kids to being unguided floaters

Who cares if those kids don't believe or stand for the pledge? Why should they have to just because you believe in it? Do my kids? Yes. They do because they see daddy do it at games and stuff. I don't force them to do it but they see my example.

The problem with kids today is the stupid parents. Stupid parents fighting everything. They fight because Jimmy feels like he should be Sally and they want him in the girls' lockerroom even though those girls will be exposed to something that they shouldn't have to be exposed to. Fighting because little Johnny doesn't stand for the pledge so he must be an atheist. Fighting because all the kids do/don't get a trophy in sports.

How about you just raise your kids to be good kids and respect other people? If everyone started doing that instead of worrying about other people's beliefs then this country/world would be better.

It's not going to happen though so who cares.

You were doing fine up to this point ^

    Then you went here:

They fight because Jimmy feels like he should be Sally and they want him in the girls' lockerroom even though those girls will be exposed to something that they shouldn't have to be exposed to.
    Lol smh

Nowhere in this thread do I say that I think religion is good or bad. I said that I was surprised that most of the kids in his classes were atheists (when their parents were probably Catholics).

Someone in the ISIS in Afghanistan thread said I should have posted that video under this thread and now that I think of it, maybe I should have. They are teaching/indoctrinating their kids into their beliefs/religion and it seems that we are not. Maybe that's why some of our kids are attracted to/join them to get that sense of belonging that they aren't getting here in America. The lack of passing on customs, religion, traditions - it's no wonder some of them are adrift.

In the future, their people will strongly share their religion/beliefs/goal of killing the infidels while the US will be a nation of people who don't have anything in common - certainly not love of country. What does anyone see in this scenario? We'll be sitting ducks.

Well you asked "what's becoming of our kids" and then proceeded to note the atheists in the classrooms.

A couple weeks back a teacher got fired. Here was the scenario: Johnny is 6 years old. He identifies as a transgender so over a weekend, his parents cut his hair short and dresses him in girls' clothes and sends her to school requesting that she now be called Sally. The teacher is notified and she explains to the class that they must now refer to Johnny as Sally. It's now November so the kids have been calling him Johnny since Aug/Sept. The teacher has been put in an impossible situation. She can't control the teasing/comments from the other kids. The parents of the transgender complains, and the teacher is fired. How could she make 6 years old understand - they have no filter on their mouths - they just say what they think.

The parents should have done this over the summer and transferred him to another school where Johnny was not known.

My point wasn't to disrespect his/her. The point was the lack of respect for those girls in the locker room.

As someone who has a daughter, I would think you could respect that point of view. Not that the boy/girl would try anything but because those girls have a right not to be exposed to male genatalia if they choose not to.

I don't want to get it into it. To me it's the same as forcing any other point of view on others.

Again, that is the parents fault and not the kid's.

but you're ok with girls being exposed to other naked girls and dudes being exposed to other dudes. What's the worst thing you think will happen if girls catch a glimpse of Sally's ?

Tbh, I think it's long overdue to completely overhaul the whole shower locker room system and give every kid a fair amount of privacy.

did you actually watch the YouTube link you gave?

    It refers to this story:

The private owners of Children’s Lighthouse daycare in Katy, Texas have found themselves in the public eye after firing two employees who voiced concern that the school was allowing a 6-year-old transgender student to express their gender iden y, reports*Fox 26.......

    http://www.advocate.com/transgender/...-texas-daycare
so employees didn't like it and they were let go. That's about it.

but nice attempt of making up your own facts . Fun read.

As dumb as I think it is for a SIX year old to be transitioning, I still think that the employers have a right to do what they want with their business to an extent. That teacher/s didn't get fired for their beliefs. They got fired for not following what the employer expected of them.

Today my son told me that only 4 kids in his class even stand up when the pledge of allegiance is recited in the morning. There is no "under God" said over the intercom although the 4 kids who stand say, "under God." In this class, only 2 kids (my son and one other) are American born - the rest were born in other countries, but raised here. I posted a video of the girl leading a movement for free public college, cancellation of all student debt and $15 minimum wage for campus jobs, and I wonder what is becoming of our kids.

Is it that they feel so en led to free breakfast, free lunch, - that now they want free tuition, no student debt? And not standing for the pledge of allegiance - is there no patriotism, no respect for the flag, no appreciation for those who have fought for the freedom that we enjoy? I'm just shaking my head at what is to become of the next generation.

One thing I am glad of is that the NBA always gives due respect to the flag, our national anthem and the military.
