swatting shots all around ... my favorite player!!!
Great game by Tim. He has such brilliant timing on D. He got 6 blocks and hardly left his feet on any of them. 16 blocks in his last 4 games. Not bad by the old fella![]()
he took that LMA ribbing about blocks personally
a top 25 according to the Nuggets reporters.![]()
Timmy with Father Time in the chokehold.
I know. Travesty.
Tim just putting in another day's work. I don't see how he is underrated, tho.
He's barely getting mentioned this year from Spurs fans. Of course, there's a reason (adding an All-Star big, Kawhi's emergence), but I haven't seen enough appreciation. He's still our second best player, he's selfless, he just gave up like $10 million to build this team.
So perhaps he's just undermentioned. Not underrated.
Top 25Not even, he is just a stat-padder like Kevin Love.
Really though, at his age this is incredible. KG is averaging 2.8ppg and Kobe is a bottom 50 player in the NBA whilst Tim is still a top 50 player easily...
The only "rating" that matters, ultimately, is how peers and coaches rate him. In that realm, he's got very few peers.
At that, his production at 39 justifies every bit of that respect. He's been incredibly efficient as an offensive player and he's in the top 10 in the league in a number of defensive metrics, including DRtg (4th), Defensive Box Plus/Minus (4th), and Defensive Win Shares (10th). He's also at the top of the league in broader, all-encompassing metrics like WinShares/48 (12th -- he's barely behind Lebron), and tied for 15th in VORP .
I agree, too, with the notion that LMA's presence -- even with some concern about Aldridge's production -- has made the game easier for Tim in a lot of ways. Relieved of the sort of offensive burden he's had to carry for years, his defense is at an all-league level and, unsurprisingly, his team is thriving on that end with him as the anchor.
With fans and a lot of the media, he'll retire as a criminally underrated player.
With Tim and Manu, we have two of the top 5 players in the league in terms of a pure understanding of the game of basketball.
Who the is underrating Tim Duncan? He was just like #11 or something on ESPN Top player list this season.
OP a got.
If by #11 you mean #23, sure.
Still not underrated.
