Seperate speaker system/receiver. No one buys the projector for the sound - it's all in when you do a projector/screen with the audio purchase as well.
I have a home theater and it's great - full HD (picture looks phenomenal which is the key with the projector/screen part) and I made the investment into a great receiver/speakers as well (did 5.1 surround vs 7.1 due to the room).
In all honesty, you can get the full setup for about 5K all the way up to 100K+. But to me, I've found that 5K is about the number to get the stuff you won't regret.

Yea, but then if I am watching with a group of people they can't hear lol. I figured I could get a decent soundbar and subwoofer to start with and that should be decent. Maybe not though, I mean those of you who have Projectors what do you use as far as sound goes?
Thanks, will probably go with those. Pricing is pretty cheap. I got a 120 inch screen with the Benq, will that be a problem or should that be fine? The room I will have my projecter in is fairly large.
That's a freakin huge screen, but if you have a big room, you should be ok.
You can get a calculator for specific projectors here: http://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ-HT1075.htm

It looks pretty good, and it's 1080p. A lot of these projectors have ty resolution.
you son of a
That's the key...Have to buy a good projector or else it's just a big piece of crap. I have a 92" screen with a full 1080P Epson. Then I have custom surround with a Denon receiver.
About how much is a decent reciever?
Nice.. No motion blur for sports either![]()
Expect to spend at least 200.. Cyber Monday coming though..
Not to terrible. Thanks.
I can't cost justify that for my office but it sounds nice (npi).
Make sure you keep a replacement lamp handy, so you don't have to order one and wait each time it burns out.
Do you have a spare bulb for when it burns out? It might be close to that time.
Bought a 65 inch vizio 4 years ago 1080p for 600 bucks still rocking
I have two spares. Original lamp still going strong though
Displaying that crystal clear, 100% reliable Time Warner high definition signal (ask IllusionTek about the new Triple Play package) in all its glory?
You have a better chance calling in as I don't do sales.
And you for always talking . Your probably 40 year old fat internet warrior huh?
What have I ever done to you? So much hate towards me all the time
Yeah - it can be steep for an office - especially when quality TVs are so cheap now. I just love the sound/screen so I have a dedicated room.
Setup is way easier than you would think though. The screen is just a simple track you bracket into the wall and hang. If you get a good receiver, it's really simple for hooking up everything. I have one main HDMI that runs from my projector to receiver.
Then everything else just goes through the receiver (blu-ray, cable, apple tv, etc..). So you just filter through the inputs on the receiver and it's all good.
My receiver was probably about $600 (on sale). They have so many it depends on your budget and what you want. If you really do your research on what features you want, hunt sales and are willing to buy a model that is a year or two old (not used, but just like buying an older model iPhone when they go on sale) you can get one for about $200-300.
I spent a little more on mine because I wanted very certain features, namely the ability to be controlled wirelessly via app. So now I can control sound, turn on music and filter through all inputs just on my iphone which is nice.
Plus like I said, it has a ton of HDMI inputs so I can hookup all devices and it's nice and neat, plus it has the ability to do "zones" so I can have a movie on upstairs on zone 1 speakers, while having music downstairs on zone 2 speakers. Stuff like that.
Ya - its crazy how good and cheap tvs are now. Most instances you are fine with TV. I just love Sports and movies and for the money at that screen size, it was better sound/size for me personally for the price.
But almost everyone should be very happy with a nice Vizio (I have one in the room) too.
Sounds like you have a killer setup, but I'm not trying to get that fancy.
Thinking something in the 200ish dollar range should work. Thanks for the info though![]()
Budget is important, but I'm just saying don't skimp on the receiver. If you absolutely can't afford it, no worries. But in the big scheme of things an extra $200-400 for a great receiver that you will keep for 10+ years is worth it.
Just be sure (IMO) your receiver has:
1) A ton of HDMI inputs - everything uses HDMI so you want to be sure your receiver can handle
2) Bluetooth/Wireless - this isn't critical, but sure is nice. You don't want to have to put a cord in every time you want to listen to music. You just want to be able to pull up Spotify on your phone and start playing.
For me it's more about the use I will get from it. I have already 5 large flat panels in my home. I have my own TV room that would be better suited for a projector than would my home office, however my plan there is to upgrade to a larger flat panel ("75"+) that's got the refresh rate and resolution that I want, and then I can use the wireless cable transmitter/receiver setup to avoid any more cable runs in my home (got way too many already). I'm still a bit old school, I like nice woodwork in TV consoles/stands and such, and to keep my components hidden as much as possible.
I've seen the smaller projectors used for laptops and such, those are cool. I might end up with one of those since the wall I want to project to only has about 100" available before it gets to my raised dual monitors. I could lower the monitors but I like my custom stand. 1st world problems.
