For me it's more about the use I will get from it. I have already 5 large flat panels in my home. I have my own TV room that would be better suited for a projector than would my home office, however my plan there is to upgrade to a larger flat panel ("75"+) that's got the refresh rate and resolution that I want, and then I can use the wireless cable transmitter/receiver setup to avoid any more cable runs in my home (got way too many already). I'm still a bit old school, I like nice woodwork in TV consoles/stands and such, and to keep my components hidden as much as possible.

I've seen the smaller projectors used for laptops and such, those are cool. I might end up with one of those since the wall I want to project to only has about 100" available before it gets to my raised dual monitors. I could lower the monitors but I like my custom stand. 1st world problems.
Mine is all pretty clean and hidden. All speakers are in-ceiling and the projector mounted. Wires all run through the attic and behind the wall and come out in one wall run behind the cabinet. It's just all about what you want - you can pretty much do anything which is cool.

I have a tv in all guest rooms, my room and the living room, but that media room is the entertainment piece. It's where we entertain so it was worth it for us. But for an office? That would be excessive.

Yea, but then if I am watching with a group of people they can't hear lol. I figured I could get a decent soundbar and subwoofer to start with and that should be decent. Maybe not though, I mean those of you who have Projectors what do you use as far as sound goes?
I'd be embarrassed if my friends came over and I didn't have a pair of Beats available for each of them tbh.

But...I get it...system first, then add the audio components as you save up.

Short term fix...Beats Pill. Wireless speaker with booming sounds.

If I walked into to watch a game at someone's house and that's what they had, I'd make them turn the sound off and just call the game myself.

Budget is important, but I'm just saying don't skimp on the receiver. If you absolutely can't afford it, no worries. But in the big scheme of things an extra $200-400 for a great receiver that you will keep for 10+ years is worth it.

Just be sure (IMO) your receiver has:

    1) A ton of HDMI inputs - everything uses HDMI so you want to be sure your receiver can handle
    2) Bluetooth/Wireless - this isn't critical, but sure is nice. You don't want to have to put a cord in every time you want to listen to music. You just want to be able to pull up Spotify on your phone and start playing.
Thanks for the tips . Pretty pumped for my whole setup to get here for it. My living room is pretty great for a home theater.

    I'd like to see that.

    lol Beats

I gave away a Yamaha with 5.1 surround because it wasn't good enough for my garage.

No. I started a thread regarding Beats and everyone chose to on them because it's the "in" thing to do now. It's funny because about 30 minutes ago a Van Halen song (early VH) came on and I was thinking about how a bunch of people a long time ago were saying that Eddie sucked and was overrated. I hadn't heard a whole lot of music or guitarists so I went along with it for a while. But a few years later, I realized there shouldn't have been much debate. Yep...dude was a badass. Anyway, I've never bashed Beats.

Thats the site I used when looking for my screen and Projector. They said Benq is best projector under 1k and by a good amount it appears.

Side note, just got my screen in today. Holy its huge. Will get a picture when I have it mounted on the wall.

Did you buy that Silver Ticket screen? If so, let us know if assembly is easy.

Yes I did. I put the frame together last night, it was relatively easy. Going to get it mounted on the wall today, doesn't seem too complicated though. Should look pretty nice when it's put up.

I recommend putting the screen exactly where you want it and then mount and adjust the projector to fill the screen.
