Great postgame interview with TD. He seemed looser and friendlier with the press than I can remember. Asked about Tony, he said that Tony was no different from all of them, trying to figure out their roles.
    link?

It's not even a Dubs fan. It's a Laker fan whose team is so bad they pretend to be a Dubs fan to stay relevant.

Please. When you beat a good team in a tough situation come back and argue with me. For now you guys are benefitting from one of the weakest schedules in recent history. It will all even out and the Warriors will still be the number one seed.
lol dude, we (GSW) have the 2nd easiest in league behind only dallas thus far. stop counting your chicken (and being an ass in general) before they hatch

This is more like it. I live in Vallejo and know most Dubs fans aren't like that dude.

Figures. Most Dubs fans I know, and I know a lot living in the Bay Area, aren't like that. Most I know even fear playing the Spurs or at least acknowledge our team's track record and respect that.

not at all- honestly folks out here are excited to have a really good team to get behind after a lonnnggg time. i was an admiral fan (dad was in the navy), then a duncan starting in my early teens just because of what duncan stands for- so seeing the spurs do well is always a good thing.

even the non-Spurs supporters out here have a tremendous amount of respect for the Silver and Black though.

Sean ranting about +/-, declaring it a "garbage stat," in Postgame.
POP is famous for not being into the analytical stats either. Sure the front office uses it, but Pop doesn't need a stat to tell him who was sucking and who played well.

Yeah, sounded like Sean's comments were focused only on +/-.

Yeah, every time I catch the Spurs at the Oracle, I don't get harassed like a non-Raider fan at a Raider game. Dubs fans are cool. The only one I truly clash with is my big brother, LOL. All in good fun, though. I see a collision course for the two teams...should be exciting!

Analytics are most useful when signing players or scouting the opposition not necessarily game to game stuff.

He said it in the context of the analytics conference at Mit last year. Could be his dry humor you can never tell too much from this. Pop is famous though too for wanting to watch guys and what they do naturally. He strikes me as a bit old school in that regard. Obviously he's not a dummy so I assume he evaluates things like the 3 or shot and trends and all that stuff. But the old eye test is big for Pop.

Got home from the game a few min ago. Liked the renovations to AT&T Center. Spurs played well w/o LMA, especially Tony and Kawhi. All around fun game to attend

I'm pretty sure he's making up stuff when he says these things. The players all talk about how they went over stats.

I remember a while ago pop said they don't even watch film. Which is obviously not true.

This. He's just playing dumb when he says things like that because he doesn't want anybody to know how the team conducts business and strategy. It's all a part of CIA POP.

Sean ranting about +/-, declaring it a "garbage stat," in Postgame.
Sean says a lot of silly things. Was he thinking that blocks and steals were garbage when Bowen was playing?

raw +/- is garbage, RPM on the other hand is quite different.
Ugh, that's like saying, "Points is garbage, PER on the other hand is quite different." They're not the same type of stat. Plus-minus isn't part of analytics any more than rebounding is. RPM is a subjective stat, so it can definitely be misleading or uninformative. Eventually, it might become outdated and replaced, like DRtg is largely. That will never happen to counting stats like ppg and plus-minus.

Sean was just talking about the +/- in the stat sheet of this particular game. I kind of went in a tangent, but Sean wasn't talking in general. Just pointing out how Kawhi was so much mire significant in this game than his +7 would lead you to believe.

I kind of agree with Sean in that in a single game +/- doesn't reveal much, otherwise you would believe just from looking at that single stat that Bonner was our best player. Actually having watched the game the old eye test will tell you a whole lot in a single game. He wasn't saying stats are meaningless.

It reveals what it reveals, what's dumb is Sean drawing an inaccurate conclusion based on a simple counting stat.

I had to watch highlights on YouTube after work, Kawhi looked great and Parker seemed to have a few great plays. My biggest Q on the night was why the the AT&T was half empty

I said no blowouts unless we shot 3s, let's be fair
It is indeed odd that 3's lead to blowouts but good defense doesn't. That seems to be the current trend. I don't think Spurs have the kind of personnel that can make easy transition baskets.

We turned the ball over a whole lot in this game and thus failed to capitalize on some TO that we forced on the opponent. Sometime looking for easy baskets precisely led to careless play. Only our defense allowed us a win, but it would not have been a blowout without some 3. Danny made 4 this game. That was 12 points right there that we haven't had from Danny in other games.
