Most of us fans have no clue about the individual interactions of team members. That personalized hug/back slap between Boris and Kyle seems to provide a rare glimpse. Perhaps Boris does mentor Kyle more than we suspect. For that matter, I don't know how much individual mentoring between players actually goes on. I assume some, but I don't know how much. I hope that Manu is also mentoring Simmons. But getting back to the clip, it does seem to show a level of personal involvement between Boris and Kyle that we just would not otherwise see.
I would not personally know of course, but there is always this narrative about young players needing veterans in the locker room to show them how to win. I think from NCAA to NBA there is a huge level of adjustment, and many young players obviously don't make the leap, but those that do (roleplayers, not talking about the top draft/supremely talented guys) need to learn a new game, adapt their games, in Kyle's case learning a new position. It's a whole lot for young players, once you get to the NBA it is a different game. Many or most find whatever they were doing before won't work in exactly the same way.

To have someone there who plays a similar game to the game you have and was successful doing that is inspirational to a young player. For everyone that tells you, you are too slow or what not, there is Boris there doing his thing at 33 and doughy.

There is probably more to that, I remember reading Pop took Kawhi to meet Scottie Pippen in his second year in the league, when they played Chicago. It seems to me that young players need a mentor. Pop has always mentioned how he wanted Kidd to allegedly mentor Tony. For whatever reason, the mentoring thing between vets and young players always comes up.

Thanks for the very cool pic. You obviously have a great deal more knowledge of personal aspects of Spurs' relationships than I. All that you said is kind of what I expect is the case, but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Should win but expect another close one.
And they will be both injured in a brawl

Better to rest our seniors and MAYBE drop a game or two than to have them go into the playoffs dragging ass. Fail.
Of course that's true. But last season, one game was the difference between the 2 seed and a potential trip to the WCF, and a 6 seed and a first round exit to the Clippers. I'm not saying we shouldn't rest our seniors (it obviously worked out for us today); I'm merely calling attention to the fact that these games matter in the long run.

The NBA has closed that loophole. If the exact same scenario unfolds this year, we could never drop to 6th again. We also were not healthy. Splitter was an animated corpse in the LAC series.

Watch Boris and Anderson at the end of this:

    (Thanks for the gif Anteater)

    Boris what a cool cat!
Boris is definitely one of the coolest.

I like Timmy with the humorously over-formal handshake with Patty in that gif.

They've already picked up his guaranteed option for next season, so I'm elated to report that your hopes have been cruelly dashed.

Even guys who played didn't log too many mins..Kawhi put up the near 5*5 in 32 mins, Parker 25 mins, and LMA just 18..We should be fine against Atlanta who played last night..

I would rest both Manu/Duncan at home vs the slumping Bucks next Wed and play them @Grizzlies the day after or split it....

Yep, the Denver game was surprisingly easy. Very glad the big guns we took didn't have to play extended minutes, and also very glad some of the young guns did get more time, which they really maximized. Great outing.

Your Bucks/Grizz scenario makes good sense.

Have a great time at the game tonight!

I just purchased tickets this morning during he 40% off black friday sale for the 2 spurs games up here in Minneapolis. Yesterday I also bought tickets for the spurs game in Milwaukee in January.
Thank you! And same to you during your upcoming games. Last night was a blast. Every year more and more Spurs fans are invading the Pepsi Center. It must suck to be a Nuggets fan right now. The game was pretty full too, outside of the upper levels.

An unimportant correction since B-R is putting players with same year age in alphabetical order.
Duncan is still second oldest, but Andre Miller is the oldest by a month.
Ginobili drops to 6th oldest behind Pablo Prigioni.
