Should all his rotations be spot on when he hasn't played much in the NBA yet? Is practice enough to translate it over to an NBA game when you haven't had much court time?
Of course not, but he's also practiced with the team for a while..I'd like to see him get more minutes, but I'm just saying, I'm not surprised that Pop has been short with the rotation vs. the few decent teams the Spurs have played against..

He is better, but not there yet. I have more hope after tonight. I like his athleticism and he has good inclinations.
Yeah, he came in and stepped up tonight for a team missing Manu off the bench. It's good to have him get these much-needed minutes.

Curry's got a lazy 41 at the end of the 3rd quarter against the Suns in Phoenix.

    Game over.

    Spurs win!
    Keeping it simple.

    The good:

    Kawhi absolutely wrecked the Nuggets.

    Simmons, terrific game.

Some good moments in the game from Diaw/West.

Tony providing scoring and helping Kawhi out a bit with the scoring load at a time when the team was slumping offensively except for Kawhi.

Anderson terrific defense. That he posted a large +/- was in large part due to this.

Boban. Good and exciting minutes from him to start the game. Altered a lot of shots and got OBoards.

    The bad:

The TO at one point were killing us. Tony was a part of it, but so was Mills and Danny. Guys who are in the rotation. The new guys got some too, but you have to hold the veterans to a higher standard.

Lamarcus. Bad defensively and could not get a rhythm going. He's off, but more likely seems like he can't execute what Pop wants. Pop saying he's not coaching him, sounds like CIA Pop.

Ray? ?It would have been a perfect game to see something from him, for sure at one point Pop was trotting two guard lineups. Maybe the extra time went to Simmons bc Pop wanted to get a good look at him (with good reason, Simmons has a lot of potential TBH), but its a bit concerning for Ray at this point that Boban, Simmons, Kyle played signficant minutes in this game (meaning minutes when the game was on the line), and he did not.

    Anything else?

MVParker taking a wet on FkLA's FG% thread
6/7 tonight. I don't remember what he's shooting this year off the top of my head, but 6/7 will definitely improve it.

    We need this MVParker badly.

Seriously disappointing. The guy actually started some games last season, even if it was for Sactown, and RC hyped him pretty highly when we got him.

McCallum is a low cost bet that Pop made. If he's not showing improvement by the trade deadline, they may make a move for a vet who can play in a bind in the playoffs (Bonner or Bojan, and Simmons will be the inactives).

Thing is, dude is already 26. The team doesn't have enough time for him to learn slowly, especially on the defensive end. That said, he will be better than Marco in that department.
Was about to say the same thing. He's already at his athletic peak and the clock's ticking. This is also his first go around on an NBA roster, so let's see how he progresses. I think we can safely say he looks like a guy who can play in the league, but lots of improvement needed to be a rotation guy.

If the Spurs opt for a vet PG, they better not get a shoot first got like Nelson or Brooks.

Half the crowd here thinks the Spurs are in a "must win now" mode and half think they are rebuilding. I think they have the pieces to win, but that doesn't mean they need to sell their future to get some washed up PG to play backup minutes.

Tony's biggest change is he's attacking the rim. His second biggest change is he's probing the defense. Last year he was going through the motions because he didn't trust his legs and couldn't push off on that cut.
