Wow...that is awesome. I think this kid is one of the toughest football players. If that's true, Texas needs to jump at this quickly. Most kids are wanting to be courted. Not very often you get a high quality player reaching out to coaches. Take the gift and go from there.t

It's seemed as if Chip Brown was hinting that Chad Morris could be in play for OC. He alluded to Morris taking the SMU job to make him available for a job he really wants. He mentioned it during a chat where people were asking about the OC position.

yes coaching has something to do with it, how much is the question. It's pretty clear they tried very hard to keep things simple in the OU game and it worked. Then the simplicity was not enough.

Charlie Strong met with offensive coordinator candidate Sonny bie Sunday evening in Fort Worth, a source close to the situation told HD Sunday night.Strong is expected to interview a second candidate - Tulsa co-OC Sterlin Gilbert, the source said.The source said Strong took Texas run-game coordinator Jeff Traylor with him to Fort Worth Sunday night for the interview with bie. Strong and Traylor were in Fort Worth for roughly five hours before returning to Austin around 11 pm CT Sunday night.Texas has given Strong the green light to offer bie a multi-year, guaranteed deal paying him $1 million annually. If bie becomes the new OC at Texas, he might also be allowed to select a coach or two to join him on the offensive staff, a source said.Strong contacted Gary Patterson to notify the TCU coach of his desire to interview bie, who has more than a $250,000 buyout, said another source close to the situation. bie's play-calling experience is limited. — Wide receiver, Reggie Hemphill-Mapps: For the third-consecutive year, Manvel (11-3) witnessed its season come to an end with a fourth-round, Region III Final loss to Kay (14-0) – 56-14 (2013) and 45-17 (2014). Katy scored three first-quarter touchdowns behind the rushing attack of Texas target, Kyle Porter, who ultimately toted the ball 32 times for 212 yards and all five Tiger touchdowns. In the 35-17 defeat, Hemphill-Mapps led his side in targets and receptions, nabbing six balls for a combined 50 yards. Coming into the matchup, Manvel had averaged 53 points per contest, but the Mavericks were held to just 238 total yards of offense; their fewest all season.
— Wide receiver, Davion Curtis: In a rematch of last year’s 5A Division I Region III Final (Temple, 28-14), Richmond George Ranch (14-0) got their revenge, defeating Temple (12-2) in a 59-46 shootout. With the win, the Buckeyes have now won 30-straight games. The 5-foot-11, 228-pound wrecking ball also caught three passes for 18 yards – two of which materialized into fourth-down conversions on Gilmer’s final scoring drive. The jack-of-all-trades athlete also made a huge impact on defense, recording two tackles for loss to go along with multiple gang tackles. With the win, Gilmer has secured the 4A Division II Region II crown, and is now set to face Celina (14-0) in the State Semifinals for the second time in two seasons. — Quarterback, Sam Ehlinger: With each and every game, we’re seeing just how dominant Sam Ehlinger can be. In fact, his stat line just keeps improving as the Westlake Chaparrals (13-1) advance deeper into the playoffs. After accounting for five touchdowns (three passing, one rush and one receiving) last week, Ehlinger upped the ante, recording seven scores this past Saturday in a 49-28 dismantling of Humble Atascocita (12-2). In total, the three-star quarterback threw for 258 yards and five touchdowns, while rushing for another 169 yards and two scores. On a 47-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, Ehlinger passed Nick Foles’ mark of 5,658 career passing yards. The Chaps’ will now face powerhouse Allen (14-0). The 6A Division I State Semifinal matchup will occur at McLane Stadium in Waco on Saturday afternoon. Allen, led by myriad division-one prospects, has won 57-straight contests.
— Defensive end, Lagaryonn Carson: Liberty-Eylau’s (12-2) season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion, as the Leopards fell to Argyle (13-1) in the 4A Division I Region II Finals for the second-straight year. Despite Carson’s two sacks and many quarterback hurries, the Eagles put up 20-straight second-half points to erase a nine-point Leopard lead to take the matchup, 32-29.
Per another poster, Horns247 is reporting that Brendan Ferns is trying to reach out to Texas. Why? I don't know. But, I did read that he's very smart and wants to major in petroleum engineering. Hummmm.
Watching the Hudl for this 4-star Army All-American shows he has some speed and good vision as a RB, while possessing great hands as a receiver. But he really shines at LB where he strikes quickly, covers well, likes to hit, and wraps up his targets.
He's listed as the #2 ILB by 247Sports and is fielding 28 nationwide offers. Texas needs a stud ILB in a bad way.

Linebacker Brendan Ferns walked into the locker room following his final football game Friday evening, having left it all on the field like he always did. Ferns played nearly every snap, catching nine passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns, rushing five times for 55 yards and another score, and racking up 15 tackles in what was a 42-38 defeat.
“He’s the type of kid that even when probably everyone in the stadium, both fanbases knew we were going to him, he’d still make a play,” St. Clairsville coach Brett McLean said. “He stepped up on the biggest stages and the biggest thing I’ll remember as a coach is that when our backs were against the wall he was a ‘give it to me’ kind of kid. He wanted that opportunity when it was crunch time. That’s a really powerful thing.”
“He’s a one in a million type of kid,” McLean said. He’s coached several Division-I recruits including Fern’s older brother Michael who is a linebacker at West Virginia. “I wish I had 50 of him but I might not see another one like him in 50 more years of coaching.
“Between the lines he’s just an intellectual player. I think he understood more than just the play call but the whole game plan all together. He made a tremendous difference in our offense and defense being the quarterback of our defense as a MIKE backer and being an extension for us as coaches.
“I think he’s going to be phenomenal at the next level.”

"Orangebloods.com visually confirmed bie and Strong exiting a car driven by Texas' head coach at the football facility within the past half hour on Monday. The two men then entered the Moncrief-Neuhaus Athletics Center together. A second source has confirmed later it was indeed bie who exited the car and entered the football facilities.
