josh smith can probably help the spurs in terms of shotblocking and athleticism. i'm not really sold on the diaw-west combo. he could also back up kawhi in short stretches.

although the spurs probably need to give up diaw since he'll no longer have enough playing time.

Would you really want to give up Diaw for Josh Smith? Have to say, I wouldn't do that.

Lance Stephenson on this team would be interesting. Could everyone keep him in control and could he be a solid scrub

from salary standpoint, they need to include other players which kind of is not the right thing to do at the moment. also the clippers will not help the spurs improve.

but i'm saying it would be a luxury to have an athletic 4 to combat small athletic lineups versus OKC or GSW. i think both west and diaw has pretty similar effect on offense they bring with the second unit, but defensively, you'd be relying on duncan or aldridge to play with either diaw and west. neither are shotblockers.

i'm not really sure about stephenson since he has failed even with the bobcats and clippers opportunity. but it wouldnt hurt to get him if he is bought out. he could probably be a playmaker if manu struggles or retires.

Also, Stephenson is a headcase that will probably hurt our chemistry and complaint if Pop prefers to go to someone else at the first sight of his on court antics. Trade wise, who do you give up for him? Considering the scarcity of minutes going to the 4th wing, is it worth it to give up the guys we currently have?

I believe in giving talented players a second chance, maybe a third chance... but both of these guys are on their 5th or 6th chance. They don't want to grow up.

After being humbled for the last one-and-half seasons with two teams, I think Stevenson might be open to the idea of returning to the Pacers. As of Smith, he is playing on veteran-minimum, and can easily find lots of suitable teams.

Neither would PATFO. This thread is DOA.

Detroit gave up millions just to get rid of Smith, and got immediately better. Houston gave him a shot, and let him go, even though he's one of Dwight Howard's best friends. The Clippers have had him for 20 games, and already want him gone. That's a disturbing pattern.

Diaw is legit one of the best players in the league. Hes a nightmare mismatch for like every single team.

-Pop isn't trading for an immature knucklehead like Lance after he sent Stephen Jackson home
-Josh Smith is the anti good-to-great stretch 4 i& would have Pop pulling his hair
-PATFO can't trade for Lance without giving up a rotation player like Diaw/Danny
-Can trade for Josh Smith in exchange for Bonner-->

When you're in the first season of integrating new key pieces into the team, the last thing you want to do is introduce more new players. It would destroy any team chemistry you've built up to this point. I would imagine the Spurs will avoid trades this season altogether, not just for these two guys.
