ok... I had to look at the formula (FTA * .44 + ATTEMPTS) / (PTS * 50). So we are both wrong, not 80% and not 90%.

Ian's developed into a good NBA player but to this day he still fouls too much to be a Spur. Bomar may end up with the same problem.
West fouls to much. LMA fouls to much. They all swipe at the ball, a move that Pop hates!

Boban will figure out, no swiping!

I wasn't wrong at all. You, however, were wrong several times. Not a big deal, but you should probably stop digging that hole.

He needs to stop swiping down at the ball on contests. I seem to recall at least two of his fouls last night could have been avoided if he'd done the usual Spursian arms-straight-up contest. He's so big, he doesn't need to swipe down.
Rasho defense. If he gets disciplined enough to do that, we're having discussions about why he isn't starting.

Pre injury prime Sabonis is what PorzinGod has the potential to become imho. Dude has unlimited potential
I don't think he has the frame to really be a beast down low like Sabonis, but actually it is more helpful for him since it was more suited to today's NBA, a big man who is long enough, can defend in space, good court vision, and hit outside jumper. Some guy called him a Nowitzki & Slim Gasol hybrid, and that is more than good enough since both players are real superstar, and for Dirk, arguably a transcendental type of player.

I agree with you about West, but Aldridge has 2.4 fouls per 36, Duncan has 2.6.

Shooting that jumpshot without his left hand ever touching the ball. How come Shaq never learned to do that?

The guy has massive hands and holds the basketball like a grapefruit. Large hands supposedly makes it more difficult to shoot, but Boban seems to have a good touch.

Splitter didn't have large hands, but he was terrible from the stripe in his first year. You would think that he would be a better shooter. Shooting likely has nothing to do with the size of a players hands.

You have to look no further than Kawhi who probably has the biggest hands in the league before Boban signed with the Spurs.

Well, maybe Chip Engeland has figured out how players with big hands should shoot.

The arc Bobi has on his shots is a thing of wonder. The ball apexes at 20 feet!
    Yeah, I engaged in hyperbole...

I didn't watch the Sixers games live, so I have a question: Why were the fans there so engaged and cheering on Boban? Is there a connection there or were they just bored about the Sixers so they decided to cheer for the big man?

They seemed to have gotten tired of booing their own team and wanted to cheer for once. Boban is a unique talent and they seemed entertained watching him play.

The only person who ever said that having big hands makes it hard to shoot are guys like Shaq who couldn't ing shoot. He also made up some bull about how his tendons were messed up.

Splitter was a terrible foul shooter his first year because the Spurs decided to with his shot mechanics. He'd been a good shooter in Europe.

It was probably mostly Spurs fans at that point.

That is so awesome! I watched the NBA.com highlights of the game and you would have thought the Sixers were in the Finals the way they were cheering for the Spurs! Especially when he made that ball fake on Okafor!

When the Spurs play bad teams, a majority of fans in the arena are Spurs fans.

I think the Sixer fans were just happy to see some real basketball being played. Boban is just intriguing player. He makes every out there look like little kids literally due to his size. Its fun watching a Semi-Giant play like Boban.

??? He signed a two year deal. While they might give a vet an opt out, I highly doubt they give one to a player who they have to develop. It would also cost them Early Bird rights.

He was 27 when he signed. Going back to Europe would likely be the end of any NBA career at his age.
Was it two years? I could have sworn it was one. I mean by all accounts he's enjoying his time here and learning but let's consider he gets a big contract offer from a European team. I don't know if its because she just gave birth but his wife and family are still over there.

I'm curious about that Okafor ball fake, what prevented Okafor from actually swatting that ball away? Was Boban's reach so much larger that a 6'11" guy had no chance at disrupting the pass?

I mean what's going on here? Boban faked the pass twice and all Okafor could do was look away to see if the pass was actually made or not. What the ?

Well if you aren't missing (i.e. 8-10) then that certainly should get someone's attention!

Larry Bird use to do the same thing. It's call selling it and Boban actually does a great job of doing this. Watch his Serbian highlights. He did the same over there. Guys with extremely High BB IQs can pull this off.

But you have to be significantly taller to be pull it off. He's holding the ball with one hand and over Okafor's head. That's why Okafor couldn't see if the pass was made or not. Normally the pass fake is above one's own head, so the defender could at least see if the ball was passed or not.

If the worst thing you can comeup with for a backup big is fouls a few dozen minutes into his career then I think we are in good shape.

Baynes got the same complaint. Complaints about fouls for backup bigs goes to show how far the game has come. What would Anthony Mason do?

Right now Tony and Manu are working with learning Aldridge and West but Boban's time will come. Tim is always in his ear. After he got popped in the mouth by Okafur it was West who was talking to him showing him hand placement. Didn't seem to phase him beyond the blood. We'll see where his level is but there is no doubt he belongs in the NBA.

I agree with the concerns about his hands on rebounding but I think the NBA pseudo-cylinder rules are messing with his timing too. He seems almost reluctant. I could see that getting better with reps. D league tons of live action reps.
