I don't know why it is so hard for most of you to believe that a large percentage of the population don't want Syrian refugees here? I think people who do are crazy - why would you want to invite more possible radicalized islamists here? Why take the chance? The FBI is already stretched to its limits hunting down what's going on now much less having thousands more here that they have to keep track of. And if you think that out of the thousands of muslims that come over, not one of them is radicalized, you're the one who's naive.

Trump is just voicing what many are thinking and are afraid of saying. At this point, I don't think it matters what he says - what people want is someone who will fight for them and not be afraid of speaking up and always being politically correct. I used to think that I would never vote for some one like Trump - he's the typical ugly, brash American who thinks his sh*t isn't stink - but that's what people want - they are tired of climate change, multiculturalism, BLM, illegal immigration being shoved down their throats.
You think with your heart and not with your mind.

This may have been the act that broke the camels back.

Trump may finally go away for once.

"I don't think it matters what he says"

bull , it matters a lot.

His racism, xenophobia, nativism are ugliest, meanest base of the Repug party. It shows how ty the Repugs are in general, because they've been fanning, inflaming racism since Goldwater, 50+ years.

It's also enabling, encouraging, justifying the base to express their own hate, in words, and in actions.

Fundamental to the Repugs is dividing Americans, not uniting.

Trump and his supporter are America The Ugly.

btw, with Krazy Kruz now leading in Iowa, it's key to note that KK and the rest of the Repugs are basically, essentially just like Trump, with more subtle dog whistles. Trump is the Repug party, America The Ugly.

He's really not clueless. It's calculated. He knows what his supporters want to hear especially the idiot non-educated voting block of that party. The same voters who believed Saddam and Al Qaeda were one and the same. The same voters who felt the country was safer after Saddam was overthrown. He's taking advantage of that loser caste of that political party.

It's fascinating to see the pols at the top of the GOP disclaim this sort of rhetoric and to claim that it isn't what the party stands for.

Indeed, given the positive reaction from Republican voters (or supporters) it seems to be precisely what the rank-and-file of the party stand for.

That's the revelatory thing about Trump's statement to me: it's not that a candidate would propose such manifestly uncons utional things (see, e.g., the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment), it's that a significant part of the actual electorate can be whipped up into such a frenzy of fear that it's completely willing to support wholly un-American ideas.

Trump is just saying in plain English what other GOP candidates have only indirectly alluded to. He's the results-oriented version of their noncommittal fear-stoking.

Trump Supporters Disappointed He Only Wants to Ban One Religion

NEW YORK — The billionaire Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States has sparked deep disappointment among his supporters, many of whom had hoped he was planning to ban a sizable number of other religions.

In conversations with likely Trump voters across the country, reactions ranged from disenchantment to a sharp sense of betrayal as supporters tried to make sense of his decision to ban members of only one faith.

“I heard him on TV talking about banning Muslims and I was kind of like, ‘Is that it?’ ” said Carol Foyler, a Trump supporter from South Florida. “I mean, banning Muslims is a good start, but I thought a smart businessman like him would be a lot more thorough.”

Harland Dorrinson, a Trump supporter from San Antonio, Texas, agreed. “Saying you’re only going to ban Muslims when there are so many other religious groups to ban just feels like politics as usual,” he said. “I’ll give him a chance to explain himself on this one, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel burned.”

But Tracy Klugian, a Trump supporter from Bismarck, North Dakota, said that voters who were upset with the billionaire for banning members of only one religion were “freaking out over nothing.”

“People need to understand that he’s banning Muslims first because they’re the most obvious religious group you’d want to ban,” she said. “I’m sure once he’s President he’ll get to all the other ones.”

RNC hasn't, either. They don't want to offend their racist Christian Taliban base.

And the Repug pol posuers who are not really against anything Trump said, rather just trying to gain ground on him can pound sand.
Because even IF some uprising keeps him out of the RNC, Trump has said he will run as an Independent.

"Trump has said he will run as an Independent"

he's losing in IA to Krazy Kruz, fair and square, nothing not "fair" that would cause him to run as Indie

That poll is an anomaly. Trump is doing amazing and he is doing amazing nationwide as well. Cruz is just focusing all his efforts in Iowa which is one of the few states he has a chance of winning in the primary.

Trump actually loves the Muslim people. He has many friends that are Muslim. He has said so repeatedly.

My family and I simply love HP - lots of playacting and hours of listening to the audio in the car. As far as JK Rowling's tweet - I don't think that Trump exercising his freedom of speech is quite as bad as Voldemort killing people.
