Blessing in disguise. The two youngsters will see real playing time without need to defer to that got on every possession. It won't lead to wins but by the time got retires, those two will have trade value.
While Scott is undoubtedly an idiot, I can't help but think he could have just stumbled upon a good idea - leaving Russell and Randle play for as long as possible without Kobe would only help them develop. Passing the ball and sitting in the corner watching Kobe chuck is meaningless for them. Kobe, Young and Lou outchucking each other in the starting line-up would limit the damage. Only problem is, at some point I fully expect Young to punch Kobe during a game

Even that logic doesn't make sense. The rooks aren't going to get any better with their asses planted on the bench, and it's not like the Lakers are actually trying to win games. If they are struggling, why not give them time on the floor to try to figure it out?

I agree ... but their rooks sure they cant shoot worse than Kobe most nights ... so you will still tank but with young guys yiu may get better ball movement and ty defense.
Ideally Kibe would ressurect facilitator Kobe but he seems to feed off the home and road Kobe acolytes who cheer wheter he shoots 50% or 25%
Only positive spin on this one is both rookies gets precious and ample in-game experience at their own pace. Like yesterday, Russel was super aggressive attacking the basket and making plays for others, things he can never do when Kobe's on the floor. Same for Randle.
This actually hurts tanking efforts. The Lakers actually looked something like a basketball team yesterday. Had Toronto sweating late (and the Lakers were on a back-to-back).
We haven't looked like a basketball team for 48 minutes once yet, this is full tank mode with General Scott leading the charge.
Thing is, Russell and Randle are going to go all out now, and without Kobe holding them back on the floor (Russell said he was more comfortable with the 2nd unit), Russ and Randle are going to win you some games that should've been losses.

I really hope Lakers management is being nice and really plans to fire him in the offseason because if not, holy . I am starting to feel bad for the Lakers and their actual fans (not riding gots like Kool and narutoluva) that y'all have to endure such buffoonery
