OrangeBloods says they're hearing TCU OC, Doug Meacham, has landed the head coaching job at Tulane.
Makes more sense that bie decided to stay at TCU.
Honestly, if Texas ends up with Sterlin Gilbert, Matt Maddox and Luke Wells (of Utah State), I'm not sure Strong will be the HC at Texas in 2017. I have seen nothing of Gilbert/Maddox that would make me excited about those two (if hired). I don't think any of them has what it takes to save Strong in 2016, unfortunately.
But I have the weekend off, so I'm going to watch a lot of Tulsa this weekend. Sigh.

Tulsa had a great offensive year, but Strong has more problems than just offense.
He needs a lot to go right in 2016.
Looks like there may be a third candidate-

Bobby Burton just said, that it appears that Doug Meacham is the next HC at Tulane. That might explain a thing or two.

Apparently there are reports that Doug Meacham & Tulane were happening…sources tell FootballScoop that Meacham is not even a candidate.
Meacham in Houston recruiting and hasn't even talked about the job, much less interviewed for it. Some 3rd rate guy in Louisiana threw that out and everyone believed it.
He's the top candidate for the ULM HC job.
24/7 reporting Strong is reaching out to several people who have worked with Gilbert and will then make a decision on an offer.
He'd like an OC in place by Friday.
nah not texas .........usf
OrangeBloods reporting Sterlin Gilbert has left Austin and a formal agreement could come down tomorrow.
They're also hearing the Tulsa football players should be informed tonight of the decision.
Not excited at all about this potential hire. But anything is better than the current situation.
^^^ This is huge considering Strong's in home was just yesterday. Right?
After some research I found that Tulsa's Total Team Offense ranked 16th this year in production amongst all FBS schools. Not bad considering the situation we find ourselves in, in the same rankings Texas was 94th. Hope Gilbert's picked up some of the play calling knowledge. Tulsa also put up the most points on the playoff bound Sooners so there's some positive vibes.
OrangeBloods with one more report that Gilbert has informed the head coach of Tulsa that he intends to take the UT job.
The potential assistants he will bring with him remain the same: Matt Mattox (OL, Tulsa) and Luke Wells (WRs, Utah State).
Correct.
This will be one to watch considering he plans on committing before LB Dontavious Jackson.
Any more info on Brendan Ferns, the ILB from Ohio. Kind of strange if Texas doesn't follow up on his interest in the program being that he's a highly touted player at a position of need.
Outside of Hagar, do we have any other inside linebackers in the program? I could see us taking two.
Dalton Santos returns next year, the only other ILB I can think of.
Someone mentioned about a senior retiring this weekend for whatever reason, and a lot of people think it's Dalton Santos. Anthony Wheeler was projected to play inside coming out of HS. I'm pretty sure Edwin Freeman played some ILB prior to his injury (IMO he played well there). I definitely think Texas would take both Dontavious Jackson and David Reese, and it seems like they feel confident in both (according to 24/7, that was the impression Ferns' father left).

Per Orangebloods Strong is interviewing Cal offensive coordinator Tony Franklin this morning. Sounds like a weird twist to things.
