nah rockhold was gonna win regardless
Weidman looked really slow. Chris needs a fight in between any rematch IMO..
Weidman was dominated. I thought Rockhold had a pretty good chance to beat him, but I was not expecting such a domination like that.
Sad for Aldo, but McGregor really got into his head. Aldo fought angry and paid the price for it. You don't go all-in like that in the beggining of the fight against the best counter-attacker of the division.
Looking forward for the rematch.
I really thought Aldo would win too. Dude is much much better than what he just showed.
lol at anyone who paid $59.99 to see that![]()
I don't see any interest in a rematch.
Conor told everyone this man bailed on their fight in July out of fear..
They fight in December and it's a 1 punch KO..
How do you sell a rematch?
I paid for it because I support MMA.. If I wanted a guarantee I would watch WWE..
Yep. If Aldo is going to be that arrogant and throw something so stupidly aggressive, he doesn't deserve a rematch. Let him win a few as a non- le holder first.
Aldo didn't even look confident to me when he got in the cage. It was like a man walking into the cage getting ready to take a beating.. I don't know just what I saw.
He looked *REALLY* tight. I don't want to say he was injured, but he was swinging one arm and keeping the other tucked. He definitely did not look ready. Conor looked absolutely like it was his moment. Even Joe said something to that effect before the opening bell.
Conor just has insane confidence and swagger. He is very unique in that yes he is selling himself, but it is not all bull .. This man truly believes he is the best.. I am not putting him in the GSP or Jon Jones class yet, but he is DAMN Good!!
In terms of a huge fight I have never seen anything so crazy. Huge disappointment for sure, but that is why it is the theatre of the unexpected..
Chuck/Rampage 2 comes close to this though..
Holy , Conor literally called exactly what would happen with a reporter before the fight.
Absolutely incredible. Dude really is on another level.
I didn't like Aldo's body language at all, anyone notice him looking down the entire time before the fight? He looked down while he was being introduced and continued to look down as the refs gave them instructions. Joe Rogan was saying something about the pressure of the fight getting to Aldo. Man, what a let down. I honestly thought this would be a GSP-Koscheck situation in which one person talks endless (Koscheck) and gets owned by the silent fighter (GSP) when the fight happens. Mcgregor backed up all his trash talk, I have to give him his respect he's the real deal. Aldo has to get his mind and his body right, it's gunna be tough to bounce back from this one but he can do it.
Can someone ing tell me why Romero didn't get deducted?! He held up his body weight for a good two seconds and just got a warning? It was the worst cage grab I've ever seen. My only guess is the ref didn't see it the whole time which makes since. He blew it worse than the judges who called that fight
Because it was a one punch fight! If that one punch didn't land like that who the knows what would've happened. I understand if it's like a Weidman/Rockhold fight
A one punch fight does not deserve any rematch right away. Aldo pulled out in July mostly because he was not confident IMO. Now it's a one punch KO..
It warrants a rematch when the guy who lost is considered by some p4p greatest and is still young AND the guy who won was considered unworthy by some to even get the shot
Aldo was a boring and uncharismatic champion. Conor is the biggest star in MMA right now.. He literally needed Conor to get anyone to even buy one of his fights.
That really doesn't have anything to do with his status as a fighter, though.
It does as far as interest in a rematch. He had an opportunity to win over new fans with a great performance. Instead he was thoroughly embarrassed.
That's true. I'm not opposed to him fighting for the belt again, but let him beat up some other contenders, if nothing else to get his confidence back. A loss like that HAS to affect you, and Conor would have a anic mental edge if there was an immediate rematch.
I'm all for the Edgar/Conor hype train. Frankie is my favorite fighter, but it's hard for me to see him beating Conor.
That loss could single-handedly destroy his entire career. He was promising Brazilians everywhere that he would dominate, and shut Conor up for everything he had done and said. Sadly all of his Brazilian fans had to be humiliated on that night.
