TL;DR
First off its looking like I may have been wrong about this kid...which is a good thing..unlike Juliet Randle he's responded very well to his benching...which could mean disaster for the league once he becomes confident.
Side note: Midnight_Pulp is ting himself with D'Angelo's play as of late so you will notice how this OCD laced talker aint said about D'Angelo lately but rather only talking about Julius. He knows that D'Angelo's permanent breakout game likely came at the hands of the Spurs defense and its killing his ass to acknowledge this
Now lets Dig into Russell's performance against the Spurs.
Over the last two games D'Angelo has been given the reins to the offense and posting a 33.9 usage rate as a result. He has also increased the percentage of his teammates baskets he assists on from 20.6% to 23.1%, baby steps towards becoming the playmaker the Lakers hope he can become.
He is creating a pace with two skills he has brought to the table since game one: rebounding, and the ability to ignite the fastbreak off of those rebounds. He pulled down six boards against the Spurs and used them to get the Lakers out in transition and quickly into their offense, like on the three plays in this gif:
He also showed improved patience to make plays as well, such as this probing pick and roll below:
Just as notable as Russell's still developing playmaking skills against the Spurs was his scoring, especially his three point shooting. Russell was also able to hit threes as a floor spacer a key talent he will continue to develop:
When players did respect his shot and tried to fight through screens, Russell was able to keep them on his back and punish the Spurs with his mid-range jumper (Russell is shooting 45.5% from the left elbow):
Or use the head start to find his way into the paint for a layup
These are all good signs for the Lakers as we look to rebuild. Whats really going to be nice is when we get the #1 pick in the draft this year and the Spurs fail to win the le. It will all but mean we will be on the path to dominating them for yet another decade as Kiwi and Lamarsha will be the lone two losers trying in vain to keep that sinking ship afloat.![]()
Scenario:
Lakers get the number one pick!!!! Russel looks like a decent pg, lakers have $$$$ and start to themselves out for FA stars
The Spurs lose in 6 to GSW....Duncan retires. The spurs have space for another FA star to pair with Kwahi/marsha
Which is the better option for a hypothetical FA star to sign with? head to head who wins that?
Last Summer the lakers flat out embarrassed themselves trying to get LMA? Will they learn from that?
Apparently the joke is on you Spur fan..par par because the whole NBA community knows that LMA doesn't play a lick of Defense...and has a bad back....your only hope is that Tammy will stay on another year due to being broke and fleece some re into siging with y'all...Once Parker, Nino, and Tammy leaves thats it....Big Lips Danny and Patty cake Patty cake will collapse...they are feel good players they can't play outside of familiarity..and Kiwi will be exposed as a one trick pony who can't lead without a vet team around him..I like the Lakers chances to win another le before you clowns
he's in the top 5 in the league for defensive rating. just saying![]()
Lol just noticed Aids has the same sign as his boyfriend filet mignon
Keep being hoodwinked dip ...I'd expect no less from Spur fan tbh...![]()
Your le KryptoNite tbh![]()
Spurs defense is good, historically good so far.
Russell has shown flashes of being really good.
I am a bit worried about Julius not because he is a confirmed bust but he really needs to improve on his weaknesses to max his potential. I agree his lack of length is a obstacle but can be off set by a jumper and developing his off hand. I think he plenty quick enough strong enough and athletic enough. But whenever he plays a smart defensive team like the Spurs ...they wont let you beat them consistently with yiur primary strength. He needs to get better. But for now ill accept just good health and some flashes this off season i expect a jumper and a counter move for when they play him to his strong hand inside ...
Okafor
And the Lakers are getting the 6th seed this year.
People are completely forgetting Randle is a rookie. He's played like 20 nba games in his life. Give him a year to get his bearings. He's gonna be a nice player, a real good piece to have.
Just like the Lakers will make the playffs this year.
The Lakers may not make the playoffs, but the Spurs aren't winning the le.
Apparently the solution is to play the Spurs 3rd string PG.
Okafor with 23 and 14 tonight,,,,just sayin'
D'Angelo Russell looks like a solid pick to me. Julius Randle doesn't pass the eye test. Short arms, him being asked to develop a jumper and post move seems like asking any unskilled big man to develop that. No outstanding qualities to me outside of being maybe a Draymond Green who can't shoot or defend as well? He's extremely athletic but undersized and that seems to be all he's got.
*On 25 shot attempts![]()
now,,,,NOW!!!,,you laker fans want to talk shot attempts?,,,,oh the hypocrisy,,,,
He's a center, 23 points on 25 FGA is nothing to brag about.
How many shot attempts has D'bust had his last few games?
Russell will be first team all NBA rookie.
,,there is a reason your idol is called kobrick,,,,
