Gortat is a hard cover for West- 1) Gortat is good and 2) West is giving up at least 4 inches
How many inches is Gortat giving up on Marjanovic?

Using your math, it seems like it is 6 inches.

Boban could have destroyed him if Pop kept him in the floor. +17 it wasn't like Gortat was sitting on the bench.

Using your math, it seems like is 5 inches.
    West is like 6'8 1/2" with a 7' 4" wingspan. Gortat is about 7'0". with a 7'3" wingspan. Boban is 7'3 1/2", 7'6" wingspan and a 9' 7 1/2" standing reach.

Gortat has about 3-4 inches on West. And Boban has bout 6-7 inches on Gortat. Boban has about over a foot on Blair (HA HA).

Everybody is a hard cover for West. He can't guard anyone bigger, and guys his size like Milsap and Randle went right through him too. Throw in his inability to help and contest at the rim and it's a problem.

West is the McDyess to Boban's Splitter.

So if West is a revolving door, shouldn't Spurs just play Bonner. At least he can space the floor!

It's not a bad idea, I think Bonner might be better on defense.

West might be, fit-wise, the 6th best big on the team.

But because he gave up so much money, and has such a good reputation, he's flat out bulletproof. No matter how bad he looks with. the eye test or the numbers, team defense or man, West is untouchable it seems.

Gortat had his season high, vast majority against West, and it was easy for him.

The guy forced his way into the Spurs. Now Spurs have to make use of him when other options may be better. Let's hope he doesn't cost the Spurs a championship.

I have seen enough to consider that Boban should be really ahead of West in the rotation at least in reg season..but you know Pop isn't having West in street clothes..

He won't. Pop will go with whomever the best matchup. West isn't costing the Spurs games at this point. Let him develop some more while giving Boban some playing time as well.

I rather see West more at this point so Boban can be more rested for the playoffs. West had a couple of nice buckets on Gortat as well and he also did well rebounding yesterday.

Tyler was likely staring at boban ears tbh. He dunked on 7'7 Kenny george in college so he's seen bigger then boban.
Only guy like him in the NBA with his size and talent is Fatboy Gasol who is more skilled in the NBA game at this point. Everyone else is either shorter or thinner.

There might be someone on a bench somewhere but they can't play like the Bobanator.

Anyway last night was HUGE for Boban moving forward. Pop was looking for a spark in the first half for a Washington team who had been giving his squad fits.

    Enter the Bobanator!

A man that big should not be able to run the floor like that, swivel his hips like that, or move his feet that quick. The touch on the shot; the brute strength. He beat the crap out of their bench and when they brought their starters back in he was beating their ass too. Gortat didn't know what to do with him.

Who knows what kind of promises or plans Popovich actually has but Boban couldn't have made a stronger case for playing time. He changed the game.

It's just crazy to me that no other teams tried to pick him up.

He was a FA and chose to come to the Spurs. Boban wants to be here.

They did. Several actually, the Lakers even being one of them.

Boban said he picked the Spurs because he felt it the best place to develop his game to an NBA level the fastest, being that he is already 27.

He also said in the interview that he probably would have stayed in the Serbia if the Spurs didn't sign him. So yeah, this was his one and only preferred destination.

Let's be honest, despite his dominance in Europe he had a lot of flaws. He honestly looks like his improving a lot with the Spurs.

The other interesting thing I saw against the Wizards is that he was going out into the perimeter to double the ball handler. I had thought that this would be a problem given his foot speed. However, apparently that's what the PATFO wants him to do.

Final though, Manu pick and roll with Boban, very difficult to stop.

Trying not to get the anointing oil so soon, but it's hard not too.. RC and Pop appear to have done it again.. On top of the soft shooting touch, his passing (especially from one hand in the post) has looked to be on point, and he has seemed to get a decent amount of love from the officials despite being ginormous
