Tbh now that his value is as low as it's ever going to be, I think they could salvage something out of him. You can't discount how much of a negative playing for 2 of the biggest cancers in the league have done to his game. He fits exactly what the Spurs need in a slashing guard who can complement all the jumpshooters on the roster. They can play him minimally this year and let him learn the system and study Tony while also letting him start so Tony can rest some nights. Then when Tony falls off a cliff in a year or two he can be moved into a starting role while he still has a few years left of his prime like Aldridge. He is familiar with Green also which could help. Contract is fully non-guaranteed in 2017 so he can easily be dumped to a team if it doesn't work out. The Spurs have a good mentor for those DUI issues tbh.

Actually before the free agent meetings last summer started, Windhorst suggested this on ESPN. He said that Lawson would be a good fit on the spurs.
It is incredible, how after years of success, knowledge of what lead us to that success, some "fans" still suggest to go with players that represent absolutely the opposite of what the Spurs have done over these successful years.

no. There is a reason the Nuggets got rid of him in the first place. He is a headcase and the only player the Spurs had under Pop like this was SJax. And even he eventually got booted.
He's on the books for $12 million this year and $13 next (!). All our players are signed for at or below market value. We don't have any garbage contracts to unload. It can't happen.
And RC don't you dare think of trading Boban for Dwight.
Trade him for Danny Green. A pile of steaming is probably better than Danny Green right now. I'd even rather see Matt Bonner in the game than Danny Green to be perfectly honest.....
