We will see if the Police boycott of the movie will hurt it. Tarantino has not
backed off his criticism of police, In fact he has doubled down on it.
Best way to spent 6 hours during the winter in your warm ass bedroom.

I might try the old 2 for 1 tomorrow morning and meander into the Revenant Room after I've hated on 8 for 4 hours. Oh, yeah.
Ooooohhh, I thought it was supposed to be Dj ango because he's a DJ in the wild west.
Just watched it for the second time. The movie is slow but still, it's great. Now I just gotta wait till it comes to IMAX here so I can go see it on a bigscreen.
LOTS OF SPOILERS!!!
What a miserable 3 hours. I'm sick of T beating his white self up to appease blacks. Christ, I'm proud to be white.
The white sucking the black . & the shadows of permissive sexuality by T & Jackson stating his was gorged with blood.
& Tatum had no business in among that cast. That was not for him. I cringed every time he spoke.
& why couldn't the Lincoln letter be true? Can somebody explain why it had to be a lie?
& the 70MM. Please. My 1080 looks sharper.
T. likes black s imo. That's why he always has Jackson in his movies.
I thought the movie was funny and the guy from Justified did a great job as the racist sheriff.
I'd watch it again but it's too long.
didn't think it looked good. ended up worse than i thought it was gonna be. just seemed pointless. and that ending? reservoir dogs runs laps around this. i love tarantino but this movie is honestly one i could see myself telling people they don't have to bother to see.
granted, i'm still glad i saw it... since it's tarantino i would've seen it eventually. also, it was free and in that 70 mm or whatever. i liked the music.
not a huge django fan but it was better than this.
outside of the woman most of the other characters aren't that interesting imo. a lot of them die but the payoffs aren't that good cause you weren't reallly rooting for anyone cause most of the characters are assholes and/or racist.
Django was a ty movie.
QT is the Picasso of directors, turning out high volume of pretty films that only the self deluded arty gots seem to appreciate.
Django is the only Tarantino movie I haven't seen.
He's made only 8 films over 23 years which is hardly high volume. Also, they've almost all been received well critically and at the box office where it really counts.
Tried to see it but the movie was very boring and I fell asleep. QT has an Avante like obsession with blacks which gets annoying. Now the Revenant on the other hand was entertaining and had a lot of action(saw it dro'd out in my living room hidef and it was ing amazing, it was like I was there during the battle scenes and bear attack). The revenant and martian were 2015's best films imho.
Well Picasso is received well critically and at the cash register. StIll overrated paintings if you ask me.
---SPOILERS---
I'm looking forward to going to see it this week. The original is a terrific movie. John Huston does a splendid job as the leader of the trappers. The boat they're pushing across the land is equipped with a small cannon mounted on the edge of boat which comes in mighty handy during the Indian attacks. The Huston character of course as Captain commands the firing of this weapon. His calmness under fire of the attack is sweet, waiting patiently while the cannon is reloaded then ordering it fire...."Fire" as the Indians are bearing down on them. And Richard Harris underplays his role which he rarely ever did. And there are flashbacks in the original that explain what his character is doing out there in the wilderness. Back in New England/civilization his beautiful young wife died in child birth, he's lost faith in God & man and has left hearth, home, son, and his (((understanding mother-in-law/can ya imagine it?))) to trap beaver & moose, bear & elk.
why wait till it comes out? You could stream it online for free in hi-def. Best Christmas present ever! Thanks Alejandro! Tom Hardy steels the show in this movie as he is unrecognizable. He looks like a complete deranged redneck psychopath with his crooked eye and scalped head. It's a brutal violent movie in the likes of Apocalypto/Braveheart, last of the Mohicans but not as good but close.
Saw it last night. I thought it was terrific. QT proves time and time again, the strength of storytelling is the journey, not the destination. The constant tension of what you're afraid might happen next carries throughout the entire film. Could get Oscar for cinematography, too.
Yes, yes, yes,,,we get it. It's been said more times than 5-4 was.
Well I agree with you Cul, I thought it sucked.
The pace dragged.
Liked it. 70mm wasn't a huge deal since it's more for color than anything imo, but appreciated the overall effect. Score was inspired though the more modern songs were sore thumbs. It's a Tarantino film with Tarantino actors, so you know what you're in for. The best winter killin' western is still McCabe & Mrs. Miller, but this was good stuff.
I thought it was great. It could possibly have been a bit shorter but it kept my attention the whole time from good storytelling. Keeping most of the movie in the cabin worked well. Not as good as Basterds but way better than Django, tbh. Didn't see anything that would have justified splurging on the 70mm version. The 35mm print was fine.
Are you sure you saw the 35MM print? I thought there was only a 70MM print and a digital (non-film) version. I could be wrong though.
Anyway, I saw the 70MM and loved it. It was worth the extra couple of bucks.
but arent all tarintino movies has the same ending scene? where bad guys just spawn like crazy into the battle scene only to be killed by 1 guy?
^Yep, and the movie always gets giddy as it gets close to this patented finish.
"Eight" is no exception......T is running just as fast as he can.
Except that didn't happen.
TBH, it was probably a digital version. There are two movie theaters in SA with 70mm projectors and I didn't go to either. From what I heard there were a few theaters around the country that had to spend $50-60K just to get retrofitted for the Christmas release.
Django Unchained, Kill Bill Vol 1, and...
