The rest of the Spurs (Parker especially) are conspiring against Kawhi, you see; trying to stifle his rise to mega s om; trying to sabotage the team; and most importantly, trying to make you mad... because they hate you. Those are the reasons Leonard only took 9 shots. Not to preserve and balance his energy output for defense; not because it's Pop's way. Oh no. It's all because Tony Parker hates you and Kawhi. Truth is, if Kawhi took every shot Spurs would be 33-0 easily.
I didn't get to see the game (will watch on LP later), but as long as Parker and/or Manu are initiating the offense quickly, i.e. not over-dribbling/ball dominating, then there is no "issue." I've explained on here many times that your PG and best wing scorer(s) typically set up on opposite sides of the floor (look at any HORNS or Triangle set, and yes, there's exceptions). If Parker just dribbled down and threw it to Kawhi to "go to work," the offense would be stupidly predictable and the spacing Kawhi would have to work with would be , since Parker makes any side of the floor he's on the strong side. This also means the defense would have less space to traverse to double team, as Parker would bring his defender over as he tries to get the ball to Kawhi.
Wanting some kind of 2 man game between Kawhi and Parker would force Parker to make a lot cross court passes and/or compromise spacing as Parker dribbles over to Kawhi's area.
The best thing for Kawhi to work off would be LMA/Duncan post ups, as Kobe used to do off Shaq/Gasol.

We won, Kawhi tied the Spurs high score and we are trying to build a TEAM and need to get all of it going and confident. Kawhi is good to go, we can count on him, its LMA who a thread should be made about.

This game the Tpups were sending double teams hard. Aldridge turned the ball over out of them, kawhi was passing out. It will require an adjustment.
This particular one though is not on Pop. He got ejected with 2 mins to go in the 2nd Q. From there on it was Messina.
Let's just be glad we got this win bc the team was playing terrible, and yes Tony/LMA had an awful game.

I don't think Pop wants to throw the kitchen sink at any team, especially the Twolves, and especially during the regular season. Win ugly games now, save the magic for the playoffs.
After five years the only play they consistently call for him is an iso-post...Not sure how it will change magically in playoffs if they don't use the regular season to involve Kawhi more in non post-up situations.
Spurs basketball doesn't revolve around Kawhi Leonard. The magic comes with good basketball being played by everyone on the team. Have you not been satisfied with Spurs basketball in the past 5 years?
Not a spoiled fan but we would have got better results in last playoffs if they would have been more creative in the way they play Kawhi. The team doesn't revolve around him ...but pretty sure the Spurs will be more reliant on him and LMA in playoffs than other players on the team.
Kawhi showed up for half of the Clippers series, same goes for every other player. Team effort.
Well said, thanks. I was more disappointed in LMA out there. He just didn't look interested tonight. And it always seems he is on the weak side of the ball unless they call 4 down. I think Pop needs to make some changes here. Not saying overhaul to a Miami Heat with LeBron like offense (though we have the personnel to execute it) but a little bit more hybrid without sticking to constant motion offense...
Sounds great. But someone has to score, defend, rebound...In a perfect, ideal team you should have 10 guys being involved on offense, taking shots, making shots, but that won't happen in the real world.
