Nice to have a bench that can kick ass, too. One of the things that all the Spurs Championship teams had was guys who could step up for 15-20 on any given night, when the team needed it. This team is loaded with guys like that.
Nah, I'll keep exposing you.... you are poison with your dialogue.

Not because I'm a fan, but the Spurs without trying were sometimes more impressive with less material.
I'm not talking specifically about the start of a season, just the level of the team.
GS is very impressive, but VERY FAR from the most impressive teams of the last decade for example. They still haven't been challenged, not their fault, but between injuries, and rebuilding teams...
My point is they are a bit overated depite being great.
They had the luckiest run of any champs I can remember btw...
I think you are the poison, but ok.
Absolutely. Another poster noted that Houston plays its big guns until the very dregs of the game, while we rotated through our entire bench, and they all played at least okay. Simmons seems to be regressing a little, but I am sure he will bounce back at some point.
That team was complete fools gold. Not this year.

Learned something just now: Aldridge's nickname for Diaw is "tea time" because Boris makes it look so leisurely when he's playing

Danny Green hits his first 3 of 2016.

Pop refuses to play Boban/Kyle against legit teams unless it's out of desperation.
Boris needs to start getting some consideration as a dark horse 6th man candidate. He's been great this year. So clever. Folks forget, before there was a Draymond Green their was a Boris Diaw.
West is starting to grow on me. I loved those hard fouls on Howard who is still such a child some times. Helps that his elbow shot is starting to fall too.
Danny! Excited for this shooting performance tonight. It was only a matter of time.
LMA, wow! Put the overrated Cappella in his place. Full Beast mode tonight.
Leonard doing Leonard things. It's been a joy to watch him grow year after year, but this one the most. I've never seen anything like it since I started watching hoops.
All this with the Big three having minimal point production (10 total).
Frankly, I expected Simms to get more run this season, simply because he's a natural SG, and would eat Manu's minutes when he rests or Manu has his annual injury (knock on wood). Kyle is more of a Kawhi replacement, who is younger, can play more minutes and function better even if banged up...
That is the state of how stacked we are.
I think both guys could play for other teams regular rotations, and more so Boban. Kyle is still a developing player, though he's going to come along more slowly now if he's not playing against tough compe ion.
I think at this point Kyle's probably been ruled out of any possible playoff situation, bc if you had planned to use him in those cases, you need to give him experience against tougher teams. That is not happening right now. I don't count garbage time as quality experience.
Boban is kind of in the same situation as it respects to quality compe ion. He's been awesome in garbage time, and against weaker teams, but Pop not playing him in real minutes against a better team will not really get him to play in the playoffs.
At this point, yea it will have to come to an "act of desperation." I could see it happening more with Boban bc he brings some really valuable skills, but I have my mindset adjusted to not be so whiny about it.
Simmons is still a rookie. An old rookie, but a rookie just the same. I think you have to expect him to take two steps forward and one step back. The fact that Pop continues to force-feed him minutes speaks volumes, IMO. Even in garbage time. Pop has made a lot of guys in similar situations disappear.
I actually (despite Steele's schtick with me --which I am going to blow off, can't take that guy seriously at all) thought this was the kind of game Simmons would shine on. His real strength is transition scoring. He's frankly awesome at that, so I was disappointed he was so poor to start.
He also wasn't very good against the T-wolves getting blocked twice at the rim and playing only 2 minutes, so it was the second game in a row that he played real minutes and made bad decisions in a half court offense. It could be a function of him being so predictable in what he wants to do, or maybe he just needs to take that open shot when its there.
I am sure Pop will give him more chances, but garbage time dunks ain't the same thing as playing when the game is on the line, so at some point the novelty of that fades for me.
I also wanted to see Boban here outside of garbage time.
I don't think Pop can afford to make him disappear, and he has talent.
He wasn't terrible either, TBH I don't want to exaggerate. Maybe he didn't even need to be pulled and could have played through mistakes, but since it was such a close game, I get it.
Absolutely. It's just that the Spurs as constructed will have more free minutes at SG than SF, and so it makes sense that the natural SG would get more minutes to develop. I think Pop would've loved to go with a more seasoned veteran too, but we just didn't have the money. With that in mind, I think Simms has done relatively well, despite the obvious 1st season jitters.

Good analysis of the game. Kawhi was awesome. I agree with you on Boris, 6th MoY. He has come in changing the dynamic of games already for a few string of games in a row. He's so important to what we do as a team and in that bench. If you are stuck in half court offense, just give the ball to Bobo. Open court, get Manu.
Diaw should be front runner for the 6MotY, but unfortunately Will Barton is possessed.
Draymond gets a lot of Top 5 player hype and he's basically a younger Boris... Spurs getting slept on as usual.
Yeah Amin Elhassan talked about Diaw on the recent NBAlockdown pod. He said Boris is the x factor against the warriors but that Draymond would easily score on the spurs bigs. I don't think so.
I'd go to clutchfans, but last time I was there it seemed as if they have accepted defeat. So it's no fun anymore because there's isn't as many meltdowns![]()
Tim Duncan with 0 points in this game, first time ever in his career.
I stopped listening to NBA Lockdown once they took Bowen out and replaced him with the buddy buddy Warriors crew, Amin and Strauss.
Sounds like the mainstream media is finally catching up to the Spurs being able to match up with their midget lineup![]()
Simmons wasn't a top 5 pick or some established vet yet you aren't impressed with the impact this guy is making coming off the street 30 games into his rookie season? Yet, Kyle Anderson is a first round pick in his second year and has had 2 decent game in that span but he is impressive and has showed a lot of potential. Hilarious. There is no denying that Simmons ( a guy off the streets) has had more of an impact and been more impressive in 30 games than your lover boy in 2 years. Pretty clear Pop already has more faith in him too, tbh.... and that in itself is pretty ing impressive.
Yeah, I am the one with a schtick. You are about as bad as applesauce with your conviction to stupidity.
Damn Hardens beard drives me crazy but he really has no choice... His face is jacked without it.
