He was money on that shot from 2011-2014, but the last 2 years it's gotten worse and worse to the point where he isn't even close on most of those shots now. Could it be the knee, his confidence? It's just strange, because his FT% is still relatively solid.

Along with Danny's slump, Timmy's inability to hit anything from the outside is another area of concern imo. If teams don't respect his shooting, the high-low with LMA becomes much less potent. We've already seen teams, notably the Rockets, sag off on Timmy to deny the high-low and dare him to shoot. His struggles also give Tony less room to operate when running the pick and pop.

I won't even mention the bank shot, since that shot died years ago...

I think it's just the confidence and making the change to LMA being the primary post option. Tim seems to think more than usual out there (which affects his shot when he does shoot) and looks to pass unlike him playing with Tiago the last 3 years. Let's see how he does tonight with LMA out. Could be the knee but he doesn't really need to elevate for the mid-range shot and it's pretty flat anyways. His FT percentage has remained up...

Yep, the Rockets really took away the high-low with Duncan's man just sagging all the way back. Surprised I haven't seen this mentioned more on the forum. Not sure the placement of other players but if his man is sagging off then a hand-off screen to Kawhi should result in some open jumpers.

Overall though come playoff time I expect Duncan to get the ball in center of the paint more often. His floaters in the paint have been gold this year.

His misses were long in his 1st game back against the Rocket so it's just not his legs. He used work from the inside-out so it's most likely that he also has no rhythm & is shooting them cold. His bank shot disappeared once his knee started bother him so it's probably a balance issue.

The last time he was consistent with that J was the 2012-2013 season. This isn't even an issue anymore tbh.. LMA's J needs to be consistent and it hasn't been.

Duncan last year shot 35.6% from 16-23 feet (14% of his attempts). This year he's shooting 25.6% from that same range (18% of his attempts).

Even though it's not noticeable to the naked eye, it's got to be either less elevation, greater difficulty bending his knees or a combination of both.

Whatever the reason, it's not nearly as important as it was the past few seasons, when he had to play a lot as the nominal power forward on offense.

Why not switch the high low then? They can't say off LMA

He hasn't had that shot since 2012. It started declining in 2013.

Its long misses because he uses his hands and shoulder strength more now...not having legs = poor balance.

    Duncan is cruising.

He's the maestro whose orchestra is mastering Mozart without his having to supply the rage.

    He's laying in the weeds.

He wants a ring but he knows it can't be won. Yet.

That WOULD be a concern if this team didn't also have Lamarcus Aldridge, David West, and Boris Diaw, but...it does.

Damn-- Timmy with 18/8/6 in 25 minutes.

If he plays 35 minutes, he probably gets a triple double.

Stat padding Draymond would have played in the 4th quarter.

Exactly. Timmy's getting the easy buckets in the post where he's more comfortable. He wants Aldridge taking that shot instead of him, as he should. He takes what his body gives him.

And the Warriors would have put him in position to get the stats needed. Even miss shots if rebounds were required.
