Current Arky starting RB Alex Collins declared for the NFL draft. Playing time just opened up for Whaley. I'm sure that will play a factor.
Nahlin said it's been pushed back to the 29th. My guess is the staff wants to focus on Porter and maybe Anderson and hopefully have an RB commit by the time Whaley comes in. That'll also give them the final word with Whaley since it's right before the dead period.

Update on recent OL offer Ryan McCollum of Klein Oak (24/7):
“Oh, it was a blessing,” McCollum said. “They (Texas) were my dream school growing up. For them to offer me, it was a blessing to happen. (Mattox) offered me while he was at Tulsa, so I'd say my relationship with him is pretty good.”
“Whenever Coach Wickline was there, I took the ‘dream school’ part out of it because I didn’t want to play for Coach Wickline,” McCollum said.
“I just like Texas A&M more,” McCollum said. “They were closer. They are in the SEC. I fit better. I just like it more.”
My guess is that the staff has noticed how impressionable Whaley is and they want to be the team who the kid visits last.
Update on OB for RB Darius Anderson:
You all have been asking for an update on Richmond George Ranche's Darius Anderson, and we were able to talk to a couple sources this week to get some info.
Texas reached out to Anderson on Tuesday of this week (believe it was RBs coach Tommie Robinson) to touch base. One source told us Texas is trying to get Anderson on campus for a visit, but nothing has been set up.
We're told Anderson will visit TCU next week (January 15) and Anderson is still deciding on what he'll do for the final two visit weekends of the year.
The vibe we picked up from people this week is that TCU could be the team to beat. In fact, there's some thought that Anderson could commit to TCU on his visit next weekend. If he doesn't, Texas stands a good chance of getting Anderson in for a campus.
"I have asked him (about visits) and told him to try to take three, but he hasn't told me which ones he'll go to," a source close to the situation said.
Anderson, who recently decommitted from Missouri, has pretty much eliminated Mizzou from consideration. One source said Anderson is expected to stay closer to home, which means this one could come down to TCU, Texas and A&M.
As for UT, Anderson isn't saying much, but people close to him have told him about the history of UT's football program, Texas' academic reputation and that it would be a good place for him. That can't hurt.
The visit to TCU on the 15th will determine whether or not Texas has a chance in this one. (Suchomel)
I think he wanted to commit to UT in the spring, but the staff wasn't completely sold on him.
He had a better senior year, so I can't blame them for wanting to see how he progressed.
Hopefully there are no hard feelings and he'll give UT a shot. Would be a nice complement to Porter.
TFloss,
Are you feeling confident about landing Porter?
As of today, yes.
Really hard kid to read because he tries to stay out of the spotlight.
Doesn't even have a Twitter account.
Former UT WR Montrel Meander will play at Grambling State next season.
24/7 reporting CB Obi Eboh of Southlake Carroll may visit Stanford instead of UT this weekend.
He's supposed to sit down with his family this week and come up with a plan.
FWIW, Scout thinks he'll visit Stanford.
What are you basing that on? No one seems to have any tangible reason other than being one of his top 3. Don't get me wrong. Would love to have him, just trying to get some insight.
Just my own gut feel and I think the staff has done a good job of recruiting him.
But you're correct in that there isn't much tangible evidence to go off of.
I may be totally wrong and a lot can happen since he has three visits left.
@EJHolland247: JUCO DT Oddie Granger (@OddieGranger) is on Texas' radar. More here #HookEm. https://t.co/K5c1cWKfcJ
Great message from Texas RB Chris Warren to in-state recruits:

I need a twitter to English Dictionary. Tried reading some of the comments after what Warren Tweeted. That was not English.
Thanks T. I hope you're right. I would rather have him over Whaley.
I'm just glad Warren isn't thinking about transferring as some said he may be. He was great last year when he finally got to play.
Damn, that guy has the worst luck with Buses.
Not going to miss him terrorizing the longhorn backfield. Good luck to him. He was one that I really wanted at Texas. He has a chance to break the rep record on the bench press at the combine.
yeah they "forgot" him
