I realize this is copypasta or some but real talk, if you act like you give a even a little they start thinking they know how their life will be with you and they get bored or fear being bored, that they settled. If you care that much for them, they must be worth it and can do better than you. They go by the Peter principle (no pun intended), in that they trade up until they are out of their league and get used and dumped.
