The Houston Rockets have re-acquired Los Angeles Clippers forward Josh Smith, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Clippers had considered waiving Smith, league sources said. The trade allows them to save $2 million in luxury tax.
Several Rockets players were eager for the the team to bring back Smith, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
After losing Smith to the Clippers in free agency in July, his inability to find a role with Los Angeles made him expendable almost immediately.
Smith had regret over leaving the Rockets, where he had found a significant role in the team’s run to the Western Conference Finals last season. Smith signed a one-year deal with the Clippers for the league minimum, but never meshed with coach Doc Rivers.

Should have never left. Smith actually played well last year with the Rockets. He had good chemistry with Harden, believe it or not.

Doc Rivers is a got. JSmoove wasn't even a cancer this year, he was just lied to about minutes and role in the offseason by the real cancer (the horrible coach masquerading as the even worse GM) to get him to sign, then permabenched and dumped because Doc has no idea how to use players. Now he has a roster spot to waste on some fossil like Joe Johnson, because this team really needs to get older, slower, and even worse at shot selection. #FireDoc

I sometimes dislike your self loathing act but you are right on the money. Outside of speeches and great inbounds plays I dont see any value that Doc brings without TT at his side. Granted he coaches circles around Byron but I think he is overrated. As a GM he is worse.

I never understood why J-Smoove left Houston to begin with. He literally resurrected his floundering career after that terrible stint in Detroit. He was a big reason why Houston even got to the WCF, but he decides to leave to go to a place where the coach is completely schizophrenic about his lineups, players' roles and minutes if your name isn't Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, J.J. Re or Austin Rivers (LOL).
Now, it also doesn't make sense why Houston needs him again when they have a glut of talent at the small forward and power forward positions.
