Glad Aldridge got the nod. Even though his numbers don't necessarily scream All-Star, he has been a true professional in sacrificing his minutes and shots to fit into the team's culture, and is a huge part of the Spurs being number two in the league right now. He probably felt like in doing so, he was giving up a chance at accolades like these as well, so I'm glad to see him get rewarded for his sacrifice.
Plus it's always fun to over the Trailblazers.
Happy for Aldridge and also happy the NBA keeps changing in the right direction with the standard counting stats having less and less meaning. If the big 3 had played in their primes in this era of advanced stats they'd be even more appreciated.
LMA in and Lillard out just shows LMA that he's made the right choice. And I think the Spurs will benefit from that. Congrats to him!
I see the opposite of what you are saying. There's no room for ego's in San Antonio or Duncan, RC and Pop would have you thrown out of town. I hope it does give his confidence (not ego) a massive boost and he begins to bloom knowing he still is an All Star with his new team. He won't rest on his laurels, he'll work the remainder of the year and prove to people he is a bonafide All-Star. This selection will pump his confidence right up which will help him urgently improve his game, which is what we need. Great pick and i hope he breaks out after All-Star Weekend. He belongs here and is needed here. Go LMA!
A max player should not need a confidence boost, they should be able to generate that on their own.
My issue is that LMA has a tendency to rest on his laurels. That's just his personality. This award is a negative because it validates the work effort he's put in so far. Which honestly has been sub par.
Giving people a carrot for something they didn't exert effort on isn't something that helps in the long run. Very unfortunate that he's in the all-star game.
I see what you are saying and there is no doubt you have valid points. He sacrificed all his numbers to play in SA and he has done that admirably. I truly don't think he will rest n his laurels and he'll play out the season like a man on a mission validating his position. With Duncan's Knee regressing badly, the time is now for LMA to bust out to win Tim's 6th. I have a feeling he won't be here next year and every player has to play his heart and soul out every possession to try get the man and his franchise their 6th Championship. Playoff 2016 Tagline "All in for Duncan's last run'
I think the coaches recognized that if LA had stayed with the Blazers, he likely would have wrapped up an All-Star spot very easily on a middling team. They didn't punish him for valuing winning over numbers.
His numbers are still good; even if he hadn't made the team, he would still be among the relatively small group of players warranting serious consideration for the All-Star team, so it's not as if he's been some mediocre player. And even though his production might not match the fans' expectations yet, he's clearly a substantial part of the reason this team is -- even after the debacle at Oracle -- on historical paces in several categories.
They lost so they have been better without himwhen they handed the Spurs their 2nd worst loss of the season WITH Davis dominating on BOTH ends.
LoL @ comparing him to Love when he's more like KG w/ the Wolves who missed the postseason multiple times during the PEAK of his prime.![]()
That jew Marc Stein ing about his boyfriend Dork being "snubbed" in favor of LMA b/c the coaches wanted to reward "two Spurs" when LMA destroyed Dork in their most recent matchup along w/ the Mavs giving the Worriers fits with Dork n the bench. (The Worriers would have ran a train on Dork just like Love if he was on the floor).
Dork was also got torched by Trevor Ariza/Josh Smith recently & is in the top 1% of worst defenders in the league but he get a pass like Kobrick b/c he's the Great White Hope w/ a souvenir ring. But...but..but he made a shot over Julius Randle & Kobe squeezed his butt![]()
Absolutely. I made this point on Twitter, but for some reason people take "career lows" and assume that automatically means "poor results". Not even factoring in having to adjust to a new setting, coach & teammates, when is 16/9/1.5BLKS on 48% FG bad? Those are still damn good numbers in raw form.
Now factor in him being a big part of anchoring the leagues best defense, the fact his usage rate is down and the fact his team is winning at an insane pace, it's not a travesty that LMA made the team.
Dirk deserved it every bit as much as LMA and no one should have had an issue with Dirk making it over LMA if it did happen.
Can guarantee if they go after someone this off season, that LA and others will post to this and say, you'll still get your bonuses and accolades if you play the system.
He's pretty much putting up these numbers in 2 and a half quarters. Theres been a ridiculous amount of 4th quarters he hasn't or hasn't had to play in.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.......Ben Wallace went undrafted.![]()
Milsap and horford made it last year with similar stats to LMA and everyone made a big deal, oh the hawks need at least three all stars "we gotta value winning". Now all of a sudden the media flip flops? Gtfo outta here, im glad the coaches was consistent on how they voted
He said he deleted his social media to focus on playing better, Lamarcus has kept his wordCavs caught a break when he got in foul trouble, he was rolling early. Ended up shooting 7-11 against them and deserved more shots
