I know what you meant but youre wrong,,,,how can being paired with a great rising star in Leonard and Pop still around be considered the downslope?
Because they went WCF, F, Ring and then 1st round exit.

Not Gaussian but still a down slope.

If Duncan retires,,,spurs are gonna be dangerous. I would love for Duncan to win his 6th this year and retire(although for the record, I don't think anyone beats the warriors),,,Tim and Manu would walk with that last le,,,freeing up 8 mil in cap space not counting the other expiring contracts. Players would line up to play here with a Pop/Kawhi/Aldridge core,,,,

Gasol has a better shot than Howard to get in,,,,and that speaks volumes. Aldridge has a better chance to get in than both of them since he's only 30 and in his prime,,,plus Leonard might be added to your list of Spurs also,,,
Aldridge doesn't have that great a shot if he's going to keep remain a borderline allstar starting four now that he's playing on a contender. Gasol was a pretty dominant post scorer on le teams and Howard carried a team to the Finals in a season where the East had three of the top four teams, and completely annihilated a 66 win Cavs team.

The Spurs would only have about $13 million or so in capspace if Tim, Manu, and West retire and they dump Marjanovic, Anderson, Simmons, MacCallum, Butler, and Bonner. That's a laughably small amount of money to replace that much production in a year with a $90 million cap where every starting level free agent is going to be looking at $10 million a year bare minimum. The Spurs have to hope Tim has another year in him, and hopefully Manu does too.

That's chicken . Nash and Malone got hurt after playing a handful of games. Rodman - forgot about him lol - was around 1999 (?) and it was late in the year that he joined the squad. Mitch Richmond had a seat belt on just like JR Rider.

These players don't count. The rest are legit though.

Warm Karl was still there in the playoffs though until he pulled himself once he knew the Lakers were losing to Detroit.

Plus he played through that Houston game with the ripped jersey

Duncan played with more HOF in his career, 4 by my count. Go figure.
Because playing with Michael Jordan is the same as playing with Calvin Murphy.

Btw,Kobe played with shaq Payton and Malone, coached by Jackson and led to one of the biggest upsets in the finals because he tried to be the hero. Go figure.

Tim made Manu and Tony into potential HOFers. Their work helped, but that same work on a lesser team just means they had good numbers. LMA won't see the HOF, doesn't have the resume for it and won't.

What a croc of .....totally Walt Disney fairy tailish.....

Tim never made Tony or Manu into good players....they were already good players....and potential HOF material....Tim didn't teach any of them how to shoot free throws, how to shoot jumpers, how to score in the lane or how to play defense....why? Because he's a big ackward clumsy fellow....he's no Steve Nash or Chef Curry....now those guys actually make players better by virtue of the position they play.....and if you come with the typical bull argument that he opened up the lane as a big man..again I call bull not in the era of collapsing defenses and also the fact that Tony's first step in his prime got him past anyone and he was a good finisher at the rim and Manu could get his shot from anywhere becsuse of all his quirky moves , pull ups , and instant change of direction manuevers....

If anything they made the game easier for him..since all he had to do was run to the post or elbow and ask for the ball....and lastly Tim can play in the paint but his post game is still wack thats why he developed that 16-18 foot bank shot and where most of his damage was done and another reason why he never really opened up lanes for Manu or Tony they created lanes by simply beating their man and moving without the ball...

    Summary:

Tim Duncan did not make them better no more than they made him better....end of story nice spin attempt..

PS: Tammy had his opportunity to prove he could make people better in the Olympics and he failed miserably and quit on his country in the process......

FMVP + DPOY is a lock for HOF. Even Reggie Miller got in for doing less...

Not sure about a lock, because we can't really count the chickens yet.

If Kawhi ends his career tomorrow, he likely won't make it.

Andrew Toney didn't make it, and he likely would have if it not for injuries.

Dennis Johnson barely made it, and even though he never won DPoY, he was renowned for his defense.

That said, Duncan, given the length of his NBA career, did play with a lot of HoFers:

Robinson, Parker, Manu, Pop, Austin Croshere.

Kawhi could make it if he continues his current output for another few years.

Finley, Horry and Aldridge could be a stretch, but those are loooong stretches. Oberto can make it as part of that Argentinian team.

Now compare to Kobe's HoF teammates over the years:
Shaq, Malone, Payton, Rodman, MVPau, Nash and KFC are locks/already in.

Mitch Richmond, Artest/MWP, Dwight, and Glen Rice, have decent chances (in that order).

Byron Scott is a stretch in the mold of Finley. Fisher in the mold of Horry.

That's 7 locks, 4 maybes and 2 long shots for Kobe, and 5 locks, 1 likely, and 3 longshots.

I appreciate you for at least making a fair evaluation of it ^ Kawhi doesn't need much from this point on. He'll be a staple to make the All NBA Team and All NBA Defensive team. He's pretty much a lock. People have to understand though, the selections for HOF as of recently have been watered down.

We've talked before, so I already know you are ... how should I say this, mentally challenged, and I will break it down for you.

The Heat were favourites to win 2013, pretty heavily at that, and yet the Spurs came within a rebound of pulling off the upset. Favourites and underdogs are defined before the series starts, and in some cases, before the season began. No bookies will ever take bets when the game's already started to determine who will end up the winner (You do know the terms "favourites" and "upsets" actually applies to betting circles, right?), so no, the Spurs were not "favoured" to win with 20 odd seconds left to go in Game 6. The Spurs were not favoured for that series, they were the underdogs.
