    checkmated in Syria?

NOTHING keeps the Imperial, money-grubbing MIC "down" for long

As It Fights ISIS, Pentagon Seeks String of Bases Overseas

As American intelligence agencies grapple with the expansion of the Islamic State beyond its headquarters in Syria, the Pentagon has proposed a new plan to the White House to build up a string of military bases in Africa, Southwest Asia and the Middle East.
The bases could be used for collecting intelligence and carrying out strikes against the terrorist group’s far-flung affiliates.

The growth of the Islamic State’s franchises — at least eight militant groups have pledged loyalty to the network’s leaders so far — has forced a debate within the Obama administration about how to distinguish between the affiliates that pose the most immediate threat to the United States and Europe and others that are more regionally focused. The regional groups, some officials say, may have opportunistically adopted the Islamic State’s brand to bolster their local clout and global stature.

In the midst of that debate, senior military officials have told the White House that the network of bases would serve as hubs for Special Operations troops and intelligence operatives who would conduct counterterrorism missions for the foreseeable future. The plan would all but ensure what Pentagon officials call an
“enduring” American military presence in some of the world’s most volatile regions.

    http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/12/11...tain-isis.html

yep, "enduring" waste of taxpayers $100Bs as US military pads their careers, fights off barracks boredom.

There is already a wide-spread US military presence in Africa, to no known, obvious benefit to anyone.

US military FAILED in Iraq and Afghanistan, but they keep getting the $Ts to burn through.

largest "moderate rebel" faction quits Ryad peace talks. They send out a statement with conditions including making sure Syria is to become an Islamic State employing Sharia law for all

    moderate rebels

Syria conflict: Ahrar al-Sham quits opposition unity talks

Ahrar al-Sham is a ultraconservative Islamist, or Salafist, rebel group that aims to topple Mr Assad and build an Islamic state, though it vows to achieve the latter through the ballot box and not force. It is part of Jaysh al-Fatah, an alliance that includes the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front.

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-35060935

The largest Islamist rebel faction operating in Syria – Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham – has issued a statement
    http://off-guardian.org/2015/12/10/l...rthern-aleppo/

All of Syria shall be united – no par ion.

Syria will become an Islamic state.

Fighting ISIS is secondary because rebels have lost family members because of the war with the Syrian Army.

Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham asserts – once again – that Syria will be an Islamic state.

The Army of Conquest, a coalition of Islamist groups openly supported by Saudi Arabia and Turkey, have introduced a string of Shariah law to be implemented

Dress codes will be enforced in schools, hospitals and all forms of public life. Females will be prohibited from being uncovered and those who do not adhere will be brought before a Shariah court and judged in accordance with those laws.

apparently Al-Sham/Al-Nusra will try to enact Islamic State and Sharia law through ballots. And if they don't get what they want, back to war it is

    Great News!!!

let's hope there's a real cease fire in the next few weeks

UN Security Council unanimously adopts Syrian roadmap resolution

The resolution demands that all parties to the Syrian conflict “immediately cease any attacks against civilians.” A mechanism to monitor, verify, and report on the truce is to be worked out within a month.

The only groups excluded from the ceasefire are Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and Al-Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda’s branch in Syria.

So when Syria does it, it's great. The notion that the west might even think of working with them is to be denounced in the strongest terms.

    Got it.

This is something I will never get. If situations change, I want our leaders to change ideas and tactics.

When my house is burning, and I have made a prior proclamation I will never leave my home, I stay so as to get burnt to a crisp with the comforting knowledge that I never changed my thinking. Excellent reasoning.

Saddam, Assad, Iran have always been necons' targets for "regime change". After toppling Saddam, the neocons' joke was "Real Men Go To Tehran"

    =================

"One senior British official dryly told Newsweek before the invasion, “Everyone wants to go to Baghdad. Real men want to go to Tehran.” And then, presumably, to Damascus, Beirut, Khartoum, Sanaa, Pyongyang.

Richard Perle, one of the most influential advisers to the Pentagon, told an audience not long ago that, with a successful invasion of Iraq, “we could deliver a short message, a two-word message: ‘You’re next.’ ”

Yup. It's a known fact the so called moderate rebels are mostly foreign mercenaries. The radical ISIS and Al QAeda even more so.

Why do u think the real Syrians are escaping via migration to Europe. Their country is being invaded by barbaric hordes paid to the Gulf States and the West.

L2read. I'm just going to take your poor reading and whatnot as face value. It's much more entertaining than trying to condescend through the troll as you simply maintain character.

    Anyway what I said was

"So when Syria does it, it's great. The notion that the west might even think of working with them is to be denounced in the strongest terms.
We were talking about negotiating with al-Nusra. Pointing out the obvious in us being at odds with Assad WC style was a nice touch.

Russia to try new toy in Syria...

Not "the greatest aircraft", but they get to finally test it in close-air support roles.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-35

Unfortunately, Russia's use of "dumb" munitions means these things look good on paper, but have a much harder time hitting what they are aiming for.

Amazing week for Syrian Arab Army. Great advances over Al NusRa and ISIS.

US coalition had to cancel the Sytia peace negotiations bcause they had nothing to show for while Russia has a hand with 3 Aces

US coalition getting desperate for any ground success in Syria. Turkey already started to s Syrian towns in the border and probably some big event will happen soon whether another Russian plane ambushed or a terrible bombing event.

    s gettin real

    Pretty much.

Hard to angle the guy out of power with Russia AND Iran propping him up.

Things have changed, and a realistic assessment of what is possible has to be made.

Well want went wrong for Obomber and co is that they were not allowed to bomb at will as they did with Lybia. That's the ONLY reason why Assad was able to stay in power.

They were not allowed to bomb by the US populace. Props to all the US citizens who avoided another Lybia. Still even without their bombing Saudi, US and allies made a mess of Syria through their funneling of arms and money to jihadists.

Still their goal to topple Assad was delayed long enough for Russia to cook up their war plan which is going pretty fantastically so far. Thanks to American civilians

Bullish Vladimir Putin is running rings around the west in Syria

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...gs-around-west

It’s Putin’s game. And, so far, he’s winning.

When Russia’s president piled into the conflict last autumn in support of Bashar al-Assad, Barack Obama said a “quagmire” awaited him. The opposite has happened.

A lightening offensive this month in the area around Aleppo in the north took anti-Assad rebels by surprise, severing a vital supply route to the city.

Russians have proposed a cease fire to start on March 1st. Most likely they are confident they can obliterate the rebels by that time. 3 weeks.

Meanwhile Erdohitler and French puppets crying about Russia being mean to their terrorists. ErdoHItler: "US is allowing a sea of blood..."

    book this:

SOME BIG HUGE IS GOING TO GO DOWN IN THE NEXT 3 WEEKS. Whether another army jumping into Syria, air-air skirmishes, a huge Assad/Putin victory or big terrorist attack. HEED MY WORDS. something BIG is going to happen in the next 3 weeks.

    's about to get real

Some good news. Southern rebels want to join back the regime.

Also Kurds and Russians about to form an alliance

As usual. I was right on this months ago. Russians and Kurds just scored a huge victory on terrorists and took an airbase.
