Awesome work on this thread as always TFloss and the rest!
Of course Sumlin waited to fire him until after signing day.
So the question...
What does it take THIS season to extend him?
Speaking on behalf of the rest, you're welcome

Commitment video for LB Jeffrey McCulloch:
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:14704694
Spring practice is starting on March 7th.
Spring game is scheduled for April 16th at 1 p.m.
The spring evaluation period starts the following week, so perfect timing for the coaches to hit the road and recruit.
Biggest thing I took from this is the staff hosted 32 recruits for officials, and 24 signed (75% hit rate).
Good thing to remember when recruiting slows down again and everyone thinks Strong is behind.
The whole "evaluate players until their high school career is over and then target them" has taken some getting used to for folks.
Some post Signing Day notes from 24/7...
-DE Rahssan Thornton of Killeen Shoemaker called the staff yesterday inquiring about signing with UT. He was supposedly not happy earlier in the year about Strong waiting so long to offer him.
-a big factor in the unwillingness of RB Devwah Whaley to visit UT after de-committing from Georgia was the departure of Coach Robinson.
-DT Jordan Elliott and S Brandon Jones faxed in their LOIs before announcing their commitment publicly.
-one reason UT came up short with TE Irvin Smith was the staff's inability to win over his father who lives in Scottsdale, AZ. He did not go to Austin for Smith's visit, but he did go to Tuscaloosa. Alabama was very likely to win that recruitment anyway.
-DT Stephon Taylor left his South Carolina official visit a day early.
-Texas would not have picked up OL Zach Shackelford if weren't for Coach Wickline leaving. OL Denzel Okafor was turned off as well and Wick was a big reason he was leaning towards TCU initially. OL Austin Myers of Manvel had an early interest in UT, but pretty much eliminated UT after speaking with Wick for the first time.
-some current UT players and commitments were able to get DE Justin Madubuike on their group text late and Malik was working him hard, but it obviously wasn't enough.
-the father of DE Erick Fowler was the mystery visitor on campus last weekend.
-LB Dontavious Jackson has mentioned he ultimately chose Florida State because he wanted to be different and going out-of-state was more appealing. It's my opinion that FSU sold him hard on not being a fit when it came to defending Big XII offenses.
-Texas cancelled the official visits of DE Kelvin Lucky and S DeMarkus Acy late in the process because they felt good about the other prospects on their board.
-the A&M site reported this previously, but LB Jeffrey McCulloch did tell Sumlin during his official visit that he wouldn't be signing with them in large part due to Allen and Murray transferring out of the program.
Mack's approach has been difficult for fans to shake, but Charlie's process seems ideal.
It's a bit risky for my taste coming off of a 5-7 record, but if the winning ever begins, the process should only get better and better and certain kids won't be as turned off by UT being slow to offer.
It'll also put him in a position to cherry-pick along the way and start seeing more success out-of-state which was something Mack was rarely willing to try.
Not much conversation on who the new RB coach will be, but OrangeBloods is still hearing Luke Wells of Utah State as a popular candidate.
They think the position will be filled within the week.
