I'd be shocked if Thibs goes to New York..he clashed with Chicago's front office, I doubt he'll be cool with Dolan interfering with personnel moves, and Phil insisting that he plays the triangle..it'll probably be somebody from Phil's pathetic coaching tree

If I'm Thibs, I hold out for Minnesota..the core is young enough to play huge minutes, and they have the personnel to run his vanilla offense..

Nice idea. He'd have have to jettison Rubio. He is not NBA caliber. Not by a jugful. If he doesn't do that he might as well stay on the rocking chair.

he would be actually good for a non-contending young team, but he is out of his depth against the big guns..

JVG over Thibs in my opinion. I want to see him coaching so we don't have to hear him on the side saying senile . He's really jumped the shark.

So, Thread, who would you like the Lakers to go after once the vacancy is official? Thibs is a great defensive coach, but his one issue is overplaying his core to the point of leaving them with minimal in the tank for the postseason. Walton did a great job with the Warriors for half a season, but that team was already a Championship team and had basically the same roster, which included the league MVP. Still, if he could incorporate a similar style of play with the Lakers, with all their youth, he could start to build something. Of course, he would need to add about 3 more quality wing players.

Beacuse Thibs as been mentioned wants full control and the Rockets won't give it to him..JVG has gotten away from day-to-day coaching for too long (last coached 2007) and there is risk the game might have passed him by..

My guy cyberx just posted JVG isn't really interested in coaching the Rockets because of his relationship with the owner, is bad. Glad he won't be coming, but that owner is still a snake.
