Trade Howard first since he can leave in FA. Abandon the 3 point only philosophy. Stop chasing stars. Tank. Draft well.
If you were the rockets GM and had the power to improve the team what moves would you make? They have a decently talented roster to be much better than under .500. Trade Howard/Harden? Both of them are mental midgets tbh with Harden being good at stat padding.

Trade Howard for Horford assuming he is still on the block. Millsaps and Horford are redudant and Atlanta needs a player inside who can defend. Rockets need an outside big right now.
This would be a good trade for both teams.
No way they trade Harden. The entire bed could be covered in and still the answer would be "No."
It's easy to say get rid of Howard and Harden, but your fan base is built largely of riders who need names to worship so you have to think business first, basketball second. In that case I'd have to shop Howard and try to get someone like KD to come to play with Harden. They've done well together in the past and have a good working relationship. Either way you're building for 2nd place at best until the Warriors evolve into pure energy.
Clips already said their not trading Griffin and Harden/Paul combo would never work.
Kings aren't going to give up the best off C in the game for Howard.
Horford is on the block and would be a fair swap for Howard.
Horford can't impact for 10 years and now you're gonna vest in him? At least Howard is shiny & perpetually new. No, uh, uh,,,you keep Howard on the coffee table, front & center.
No center in the game is making any significant impact for the past however many years.
Rockets could go after Boban.
Replace Howard with Boban? That chiseled granite with immaculate hair and that smile (good or bad news, that smile is static) + a 20 year guarantee of promise? --- For a living monster, a white one? No, uh, uh,,,you keep Howard on the coffee table, front & center.
You can have 3 Bobans for the price of .6 Howards. Imagine if Boban learns to catch high and finish high, he goes from penny stock to blue chip. Won't happen, he's too old to learn that by now, but Rocket fans don't know that.
• Trade Ty Lawson, Terrence Jones, Corey Brewer for Schroeder, Splitter, and Hardaway Jr
• Trade Thornton/McDaniels, Jason Terry, Sam Dekker for Shabazz Mohammed + 2 scrubs
• Trade Thorton/McDaniels for Troy Daniels
Howard
Splitter
Ariza
Harden
Beverley
Montejiunas
Smith
Muhammad
Hardaway Jr/Daniels
Schroeder
The problem with that lineup is still Harden. They guy that never passes the ball till the shot clock winds down and relegates your point guard to a spot up last second shooter. He leads the league in overall turnovers and he clearly hasn't the skills to run the team.

I like the lineup minus Harden
Trading Blake is already a no-go for me. Trading him for that choking, flopping got Harden would be enough to make me find a new team to root for.
Harden is like horse to "Johnny" in "A Hatful of Rain." He know it's destroying him, and when he's fixed he's fine. But, then he needs another fix to get straight. "Just one more." --- so, "Mother" sells him another flat packet of it, on & on.
Forgot to mention that Thibs would be the coach. Bickerstaff is terrible and already said the team is broken and he doesn't know how to fix it. The starting lineup is good enough defensively to makeup for how bad Harden is. Also, Thibs is always bringing out the best out of his back up PG's and Schroeder would be a nice fit. Don't think the TPups know what they really have in Shabazz, his Per 36 numbers are special. Reasoning for the last trade, Troy Daniels is clutch.
Thibs would start a race war there. Somebody would end up on the bread lines and it would be the white guy. We always end up on the bread lines now.
And they knew what they were doing when they did it, but, it looked so swell in the box they couldn't stop themselves.
Waive Josh Smith and again become the best team in the league.
they were losing tons of games without josh smith too
