Looks like he walked.
Davis throws bows like the mailman, tbh.

Looks like he walked.
But he's got an ultra quick release and is water from deep.

Pretty decent for a 6'10" guy, it seems.
George Hill.
The gift that keeps on giving . . .
Taller Marco is a good comparison
Good to see he still has his athleticism. Daye didn't have that (describing him as awkward is kind). I definitely can see him here next seasonif he stays healthy. I would be more excited about him if not for his injury history. It's so weird that he injured one knee after another in consecutive years when he is primarily a lanky shooter, who likes to play in the perimeter... and they weren't even contact injuries I believe. I can't imagine an NBA grind and the physicality will be sustainable for him.
How good is he at committing an intentional foul?
So prepare yourself to say o again to Nando ;-)

Considering the GIF above where he throws a mean elbow at a smaller gnat of a defensive player, I'd say he doesn't shy away from an intentional foul. I kinda like another tough guy like West on the team.
As I said in the think tank thread, I think he could have some plays on offense running around screens for shots ala red , Allen, curry, and Thompson. His release is quicker than Marco's. I remember Marco had to pump fake alot because he wasn't that fast off screens and his release wasn't as quick. I think Bertans has more potential than Marco and I don't think it's a good comparison. This guy is like a shooting guard in a sf/pf tweeners body. I haven't seen him drive that much because he has really no problem getting his shot off with very limited time. One play he faked a handoff, dribbled to the right, and launched a 25 footer to beat the buzzer. His range is unreal as is his accuracy. Real curry like. I see him as an Allen-type on offense. But I need to see more drives. He's a good cutter. Defense is his issue. From what I seen he looks lost out there. But as many have said, health will be his issue.
His last euroleague game can be watched on watch ESPN. They played Brose basket. Just search euroleague, click on replay. He subbed in at about 25' minute in the first half and about 1:17 in the second half. If you want to watch the whole game Adam Hanga plays on his team for those who don't know. Can scout two at the same time.
Thanks for posting this...I didn't know he plays for the Baskonia.
Looks the same as before, especially on that last 3 point shot. I watched several games of his on stream last year before his injury. The guy is very athletic for his size. He is 6'10 1/2. Would be the 3rd most athletic guy on the Spurs after Simmons and Mills.
Chip wouldn't even have to change his shot. Thing I notice was he take most of his 3 pointers like 26+ feet from the basket, a fast release, and he fades away shooting them on about 80%, which makes them unblockable. This guy would tear it up in the Spurs system coming on of pick and pops.
Size might be a problem but , he is just as big as Dirk and his hops gives him an advantage of rebounding. Just defending guys like Davis etc. would be difficult for him. But the fact he can stretch the floor draw players like Davis from the basket on D.
Vid below is after his first ACL tear. Thing about tendon tears nowadays, its best to get them when your young. With the new fiber technology, the fibers get sewn into the tendon and make them twice as strong as before. Remember, both tears were on different knees, which is good.
I see Bertan as the only major change this offseason, replacing Bonner.
Cheers man. Thanks for the good post and video. As you say, the time to get tendon injuries is when you're young. Looking forward to seeing this kid over for the Spurs.
Hopefully Latvia produces two promising NBA rookies two years in a row. Not bad for a country of 2 million.
Would be cool to have both of the Bertrans brothers play on the Spurs Summer League team this Summer.
Euro league 3s are a lot shorter than NBA 3s but doesn't look like it would bother Bertans much. Watching some of the highlight vids, there is another thing I like about this kid. He is very fiery and animated when in the game, waving his fists and shouting. Even more than Paddy if that's possible. What a boost that at ude is to the bench team when they come in.
I hope what Cowboys_Wear_Spurs said, " With the new fiber technology, the fibers get sewn into the tendon and make them twice as strong as before. Remember, both tears were on different knees, which is good." is true. Never heard this take on ACL tears before, but then I'm so old they fixed mine with a hatchet and deer sinew.
I'm glad I'm not the only guy who went to Dr. Kilpatient's.
Nice guy, but man...

Agreed.![]()
I do love that most folks would have been happy with the Spurs using their first pick on Bertans in 2011, and he ended being their third.
I hope he skips playing for the national team this summer. Their chances of winning the Olympic Qualifying tournament against Serbia in Belgrade are miniscule especially if Prozingis doesn't join the team. The tournament takes place from July 4th-9th, so he would miss at least the Utah Summer League and maybe a couple of games in Vegas too while being jetlagged and having less practice time.
I hope he sees that too much is at stake. We're talking about possibly getting on a path towards making life altering money.
, yeah. The Spurs should demand it after dealing with two surgeries and rehabs. He and LJC need to be full participants in the SL this time around.
