"We're broken. It's that simple," Bickerstaff said after Wednesday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, which pushed the Rockets out of the eighth and final seed in the West playoffs at the break. "We're a broken team, and we all need to use this break to figure out how we're going to impact change. If we don't want to impact change, then we need to be made aware of that, too, and we'll go in a different direction.
"We can't continue to go out and play this way. It's easy to see it's a fragmented bunch. You can't win that way."

As Bickerstaff hinted, Houston GM Daryl Morey could shake up the roster with the trade deadline a week away. Reports Thursday indicated the Rockets have been calling teams about trading center Dwight Howard, who can become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
But mounting evidence suggests that the real problem isn't Howard or any of Houston's role players. Instead, it's the one player the Rockets presumably wouldn't consider trading: superstar shooting guard James Harden.
As preposterous as it sounds, trading Harden might be the only way to fix a broken team.

Personally, I would take my chances with DeAngelo Russell who is wasting away with Byron Scott and give the Lakeshow the Superstar they crave with the exit of Kobe Bryant. Lakers would be broken for years!

Yet you want to pay Dwight 30 million until he is 35? Dumb

    And Deangelo Russell.

Tough decision for houston. Howard isnt going to stay s its dumb to trade Harden.

The problem with Harden though is tha superstars should attract other stars but with Hardens reputation this year..its going to be impossible to get another UFA star.

Really a choice between blowing it up or average ball for the next 6 years...unless they develop players internally or they make a winning trade.

Thing is, Harden is still a top 7-10 player in the league thiugh so it makes sense to keep him and hope.for a trade.

Therin lies the problem. They have a dip owner who doesnt want to rebuild. Morey gets flak for chasing stars, Alexander should as well (Pippen trade, Barkley, McGrady)

If you trade Harden might as well wait til the offseason. You arent getting much for either right now.

Man the McGrady trade was a steal. Steve Francis is one of the worst point guards I have ever seen, so getting McGrady for him was an unbelievably good trade.

If you trade Harden no one is coming to play alongside Howard. Harden can pull some talent from other areas, maybe KD, maybe Melo, maybe Lamar Odom... wait, probably not Odom.

Harden is really Steve Francis 2.0 Dribble dribble dribble, pass

He's just like Baron Davis minus the creaky knees but no team ever won with Baron Davis either.

Harden should be a centerpiece of the NBA's all time most unmotivated players list.

Nobody is ever winning a chip with Harden as the centerpiece. There I said it!

Except Harden is a better passer and scorer than Francis, who averaged 6 assists a game as a PG

Besides the fact Francis had Mobley and Yao and couldnt win a playoff series. Harden should get blame, Morey should get blame as well for trying his bull 3 ball crap and hiring a puppet coach. Lawson turned out to be a bust but I guess you blame Harden for that too.

Morey has been godawful at addressing the PF spot. Jones is garbage. Motiejunas has chronic issues. That spot has held the team back for years now and it still hasnt been addressed. You can say Harden is unmotivated and i will agree. Who lets him get away with that? Oh yeah, Daryl. And his job is in jeopardy btw.

Well, well, well. It only took 1.5 seasons for you to come to the same conclusion I made long ago.. I told you , Deeps, Djohn anyone that would listen with those two as your #1 and #2 you were not going to win . And although you were in a much better spot than we were (still are) if winning les was the goal paying non true franchise players max money, in the end would leave you still stuck a the 2 or 3 (i forget if Moses got y'all one).

Now I still think if you got a legit #1 one of the two should be salvageable so normally you keep the younger guy (harden) and hope the right coach and that real #1 can lead the way. I am surprised some Rox fans want to get rid of both ...

They just need a real coach, a roster built the right way, and Morey and Les to get out of the way. I say try again for this reason. Anthony Davis has led the Pelicans where? So its not guaranteed you will find that guy in the draft either.

I also wonder about the fact why Harden came into the season out of shape in a year Dwight is going to opt out. If KD were to come (which he wont) , Dwight would need to go. Maybe thats whats happening. Whatever though, just glad he dumped Khloe.

I agree. Howard is the one that needs to be traded despite the problems with Harden's game ... the right coach (with support of the FO)should be able to get Harden on track.. The thing is ... I saw Harden try on defense for coach K and after a summer of Vines and IG's showing his horrible defense. He can play better. I think he is buying the beard hype and and the players voted me MVP hype. When he is on he is filthy 1 on 1. For example. The Dubs could do NOTHING to stop him when he got rolling the other night but it was all Harden iso ...a better coach has to find a way to harness his game because We also saw Harden the facilitator early on when he killed GSW in pnr with some great passing early. He used to do the same for OKC bench units and in the clutch just ask the spur fans about the backdoor sweep. Rox need that version of Harden not the iso king one we see now.

This. I think the Kardashian hype got to his head too. Needs to get in the gym with no distractions. Now, if they get a real coach and it doesnt get better, then trade him. Both management and Harden need to get better together. Yeah Harden has his best season last year when he played for Thibs and coach K. So he can do it. Kelvin Sampson was a guy that would get results out of him. Wish he never left.

Harden is trash. The Roxs would be fine if they played through Dwight imo. Harden isos are going nowhere fast.
