Of course it's some player development but selling High on Hill and getting Kiwi requires smarts and luck first then development. You can see how much Parker and Kiwi have improved in SA no doubt they do a great job. I have been arguing Lakers should double their shooting coach salary to move to L.A. but they dont listen to me ...
You do scouting and organization properly.

And it's not just a shooting coach. What do you want a player to do? Can anyone tell any of the lakers players what their roles are?

I get it's not just that but back even when we were winning I never understood why the Lakers didnt buy the best assistants. That is how many of the top companies stay on top, they hire away the best minds in their industry and recruit the best and brightest out of college. Since there is no salary cap on coaches/and their staff. Lakers should go after the PHX or Dallas trainers, the spurs shooting coach etc. But No, since the lockout they fired some of their scouts and have hired moronic coaches and iffy assistants. they added some metric guys but Byron ignores them so who cares?

My point wasn't that the Spurs get the things right the Lakers do not ... because that is obvious. My point was there has been some luck involved but when you are not lucky you better be prepared the Spurs are both. Lakers are neither right now. We cant buy whatever players we want but no excuse not to have a top notch staff with that Time warner money. Some of Kobe's should have been spent on that. In fact, Lakers should ALREADY have their next trainer on staff as they transition from Gary Vitti ... but these bas s are acting like they are not printing money ... like that gets me even more pissed than Kobe's extension because it's no excuse for us to not have the best staff money can buy ..and that would help with development.

DMC may laugh but I wont buy LP or even the sports package that includes the TW Laker shows until I see some improvement. IF i didnt give a about missing some of Kobe's last games ...what do they expect when there is no Kobe? I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way . Love my Lakers but I will not buy any merch, tix or pay fees to watch this product until they show they are on the right path. Even Simmons wont change my stance. Ill just watch the young guys develop (slowly) on TNT/ESPN/NBATV and local DFW in any given year that is almost 20-30 games that wont cost me . Ill just read recaps and box scores like a casual for the non-national games.

Dwert running to the christian broadcasting network just as fast as he can

Dwight Howard Gets Real About Being a Christian in the NBA

It is not easy being both a Christian and a successful NBA star. If the Houston Rockets' Dwight Howard did not share a solid foundation with Jesus Christ, he suspects that his life might have turned out differently.

"There [were] times where it was very overwhelming. Where it's like, man, this is so much. Everything is at my disposal, you know, all I got to do is just go reach and it's mine," he shared with CBN.

But every time he feels tempted to stray from his values, Howard is reminded of his mission. "My mission was to preach God's Word, you know, in the NBA. Use the NBA as a platform for God. And when I'm on the floor, you know, let people see, you know, the God in me," he said.

Some people assume that Christians hardly make mistakes, and Howard had to learn the hard way how to deal with people's high expectations of him.

"I am a man of faith. I believe in God. And I will always believe in Him. And, you know, the minute I messed up, the minute I sinned, everybody took a shot at me. 'Hey, you're supposed to be a Christian,' but God died on — Jesus died on a cross for our sins, you know. So if He's willing to forgive us, why can't we forgive each other?" he said.

Back in 2012, Howard faced the lowest point of his career. He was then playing for the Orlando Magic and was dealing with friction with his coach and teammates.

"When I was in Orlando and a lot of this stuff went down in Orlando, everybody made me look like the worst guy in the world. A coach killer, a guy who hates his teammates, a cancer, all this stuff that I'm not," he revealed.

Then in August, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. "I come back, I go to the Lakers," he narrated. "I'm trying to play. But I'm still not 100 percent, and I was getting demolished for that. 'Ahhh, he's not playing hard enough. He can't dunk anymore. He can't do this.' And I'm like, 'God, why do I have to go through this?' But He said just keep going. Just stay strong."
God eventually pointed Howard to the Rockets, but his move really upset Lakers fans. Overwhelmed by all the negativity, Howard prayed for God to "just do something."

"And He said, 'Listen, if the whole world hates you, I love you. Always remember that.' So I just tried to put away all the hate and everything like that and just focus on my relationship with Him," Howard said.

The Christian NBA star is now determined to continue his mission for God in the basketball court and do his best despite all the negativity. "When I'm on the floor, you know, let people see, you know, the God in me. Whether that be me having fun, blocking a shot and smiling dunking and smiling, whatever it may be. But just having fun playing with peace and joy," he said.

That is why I said ALMOST ...
But one of the things I like about SA is overall even when it doesnt make sense like cutting SJax right before the playoffs (IIRC) Spurs find a way to make things work. getting and resurrecting Diaw, mills. cutting bait on Neal, RMJ, belli when folks here felt it was a mistake. Spurs have deserved the props as the Pats of the NBA really honestly and truly a few mistakes for either (Pats had re-signed Aaron Hernandez) is just speed bumps.
Pretty sure RJ cost the Spurs Draymond or at least Festus.

Report: Dwight Howard and James Harden tried to get the other traded from Rockets in 2014

Trying to build a championship team around these dudes..Morey ...

It was only days afterDamian Lillard‘s 3-point dagger eliminated them in the first round of their first playoff series together when both were sending out messages and maneuvering to get the other one traded.
Harden is a difficult teammate to play with, dominating the

You make your own luck in this business and the Spurs were prepared. They make mistakes but they minimize those by making the right choice most of the time through preparation. Then they put the right resources to make the most of what they got.

The two franchises also have different drivers. In order for the Spurs to be profitable they have to be successful. They can't draw huge names in free agency because they are a small market to they develop what they have.

The lakers mean while will sell out tickets no matter what. All they want is to maximize merchandise sales and a player like Kobe allowed them to do that. They thought they can attract free agents whenever they want because they are the lakers. But the new age is different. Players want a plan to succeed. The lakers aren't providing that plant form.

It saved the team $ 11 million (RJs contract had additional year on his contract) but it did cost us a shot at both, Ezeli was the 30th pick and Dray was the 35th.

You got to take back 85% of Howard's salary. You can't just stick him out on the curb for waste management to haul him away in the middle of the nite.
