So I was bored, and started reading a couple of reddit/Spurs threads about us. Man what a bunch of cry babies thin skinned fans. I expect that behavior and reaction from insecure Lakers fans. I just wanna say that SpursTalk is AWESOME. And I bet you all lurkers desire/envy SpursTalk's freedom of speech too--which is what makes it fun and relaxing. Still, there's more intelligent and legit basketball talk on here than in other blogs/forums. The these guys are talking about?

Ever since Kori & LJ have become inactive, it's really gone to . Slomo tries to run it, but isn't very good at it. It's a shame, because I've met some really great people from that site. Honestly, I'd say that 60% of the traffic is from multiple accounts who just troll for no reason.

It's just over run by trolls because the original mods left. In its peak I would actually say it had better content and discussion than we have on reedit because there were a lot of great knowledgable members. When mods lightened up, more trolls emerged, the best posters left, and soon all that was left was trash. I lurk occasionally, but it's mostly about Parker being fat and washed up or calling each other s. Thank Duncan for reddit.

It's such an awful site, mainly because there is very little actual conversations about basketball, and most of it is bashing on whoever had a bad couple games.
Manu played poorly in G6 of the finals, and for an entire year every single post had to devolve into Manu bashing insanity and people wishing he'd retire or get injured and be out for the year (!!!). This year it's full on "lets bash on Tony I hope Pop trades him for a 2nd rounder"
It's ridiculous! I get not liking certain players, I get being disappointed in certain players. I don't understand the constant need to bash some of the Spurs' best players in franchise history to the point that it's the only conversation being made.

There is a cabal of a few people and they each have over a dozen accounts, share them, and systematically deceive creating different personalities for them and playing them out. I love that we have reddit, but that other forum spurstalk has so much potential... instead 90% of it are run by trolls posting garbage every day about how much they hate Tony Parker. Seriously, bunch of no lifers over there. I used to think there was no one who moderates it very much, but now I believe the primary troll there IS the moderator with different usernames to troll with. His name is apsolic_9, and the dude posts garbage everyday.

I left that place. They don't moderate it. The most obscene and rude things are posted there. Half naked chicks, and every insult you can imagine in the next post.
It's a maturity thing. They don't have it.

There's about 9 layers of trolling going on there at this point. At this point, the anti-porker, kiwi, pro Manu, etc player fan groups are all self aware parodies perpetuating a shtick because that's just the cool thing to do now there. I hate to use the term "casual" but unless you really delve deep into spurs talk, go into the archives and know the community there, you really don't know what's going on.
Yeah there's a lot of bull , yeah open registration kind of ed things up. But for in depth actual basketball discussion about x's and o's, it really does far surpass reddit. And frankly I think the lack of political correctness is a refreshing change from reddit and it's hyper sensitivity to Homer opinions and talk.

If you delve deep, there's still some good stuff there. But the signal to noise ratio is terrible -- way worse than it used to be. I have better things to do than sift through all the obnoxious garbage to get to the good bits.
I mean, if you enjoy that kind of environment, that's different. But personally, I'd rather visit PtR. Lots of really good bits and a more pleasant environment.

I think we can all agree ST has gone downhill. But I do love the contrast between it and general forums. It would be nice to just lower the volume of filth by locking more threads, pinking posters and in general rewarding more on-point talks. But I also love the fact that you can straight call out a poster on this site with no fear of being banned. That's truly rare nowadays.
