"Chances" is the "quan y" "expressed" as "astronomical".

    lol chances is

    You're still doing it.

And you're pretending I was asking for an indefinite quan y. That's so precious.

You are a joke. If the thread doesn't interest you, move on.
And who the are you, newbie Spurs fan, that you assume the role of self-appointed thread cop? apalisoc_9 is the most annoying poster I've seen in my 11 years on this forum. The place would be far better if he were pinked and banned from starting new threads. If I occasionally want to about a post that is ridiculous by even his appallingly low standards, I will do so.

Pop doesn't willingly hog any credit, and would probably be the first to credit Tim and Company for the Spurs' success, but if you're referring to the media lavishing more credit on Pop than he probably deserves, then I agree.

As Harlem said in earlier post, the "system" meme has gotten out of hand since 2014 (I also think Kevin Durant deserves some blame when he said "Kawhi is only doing work because of the system.")

There isn't a single systematic blueprint the Spurs have in some magic binder. Pop will design the offensive and defensive systems around the strengths of his core players. In the mid-00s, pretty much everything was built around Duncan. From 4 down to the corner 3 (which Pop indeed pioneered, but its sole purpose was to protect Duncan from double teams/punish teams when they double, as passing out of the low post to the corner is the easiest pass to make from the low block). And the lanes Parker and Manu had in those days were also a result of Duncan collapsing defenses and being the best sealer of all-time. And to the way the defense was designed to funnel wings into Duncan. You can take a look a the on/off numbers from that era, and the defensive rating plummeted when Duncan was off. A "system" implies plug-and-play, and it's not like you could've plugged in Menke Bateer and had similar results.

Pop revised the system post-08 as the league was moving toward a faster perimeter oriented, drive-and-kick game. Thus the signing. Another revision took place in the "Beautiful Game," which was designed out of necessity, the necessity being able to counter elite teams like Miami and the Thunder who overmatched the Spurs athletically. Now we see it's being revised around the strengths of Kawhi and LMA.

Pop does indeed deserve credit for being smart in his revisions (unlike Phil Jackson, who forces the Triangle no matter the roster), but the players precede the system's design.
