I wasn't expecting much when I heard Kawhi was out, but this was discouraging on many levels. West showed up, Boban, and .....I can't think of anyone else. These beatdowns- like we received from GSW and Cavs as well- make it hard to see the silver lining. Nothing hopeful to take from this game. It was a bad performance.

Nah, Simmons was toxic waste tonight. Pretty much any time he touched the ball, some awful would happen. He couldn't guard anybody. I actually think the stats were WAY too kind to him. He should have had a couple more TOs, like the one where he missed the Parker pass that hit him in the hands. Worst Spur by far tonight. In fact, Pop pretty much lost the game when he kept putting Simmons in early. Anderson was the much better player. He was the only guy who gave Paul trouble when guarding him. I wished he had hit some more of his inside looks, but the dude was the best Spur tonight.

Honestly, more Anderson and West and less Simmons and Diaw would have been huge. There was definitely a rust and effort issue tonight, but that rotation change would have helped a ton.
I wasn't a fan of Simmons tonight, he has had better games, but generally he did his under 20 min role pretty decently, despite getting blocked and what not. I though Kyle was pretty poor too, but then again he'll get a pass because he's really not ready to be a starter in this league. I just can't pin this game on those guys when 3 of your starters shoot a combined 6-27, and your other experienced starter only shows up for a quarter, tbh...

I mean if the excuse was rust in the Miami game, I don't know how having another week off was going to improve that. Whole team looked rusty today, so I'd say that it's a factor. If he still looks out of sorts next week, it's a bigger issue.

Thanks for sharing Chinook. Value your opinion because there is a lot of trolling from others.

Obviously, but they would have been able to overcome everything else. Dude was Beli-bad defensively with and Game-Six Manu--bad offensively.
He was really bad. When he wasn't missing shots and getting blocked, he was sending them to the line.

I would say that West was our best player, by far. But for SAGirl I would say Anderson was probably our second best player. Simmons was a turnover machine, and he made consistently poor decisions. On defense he was worse than usual, making some rookie mistakes. But Patty was just as rookie-ish. I share some posters' concerns about Tim. Actually I have been very worried since the last Lakers game. Maybe this was one poor game after a long layoff without our best player... maybe. But LMA is supposed to step it up, and he was tied for worst Spur with Simmons. Tbh, I still have doubts about him.

Patty was pretty good, excluding his horrible defense in the 4th quarter(although we don't expect otherwise)

    Appreciate your opinion too ElNono.
It's kind of also what I thought with just watching a snippet to end the game. I didn't see the entirety of their performance, but you don't expect the youngest player to save you when the stars don't show up.

I have no idea why you think he was poor. Dude was 4-6 and was the only guy who looked like he could comfortably get his own shot. Honestly should have been given the ball a lot more. And he was exceptional defensively. The only mistake he had was the Pierce foul, and that shouldn't have even been shots, because Truth totally went up after the whistle was blown. Him switching onto Paul should have been a Clippers advantage, but it wasn't. Paul passed it away every time, despite him being hot tonight. That's the kind of stuff you need against the best teams if you're going to play a switching defense.

Patty will get exposed on defense in the playoffs too, and we need his scoring.

Even worse than his defense is when we're on a run and he s it up by pulling up and chucking a 3 from the elbow on a 4-on-1 fastbreak which usually leads to a bucket or corner 3 on the other end.

He was pretty good at guarding Re tonight..Clippers are a good matchup for him when he doesn't have to guard Paul, tbh..

Tough to fault him when he was one of the few players that showed up on offense tonight..

LMA was awful. He allowed Mbah a Moute to check him. That just can't happen. But he didn't have his legs. All of his shots were short. He'll get it going again. Not concerned with Tim yet, but it seems more obvious that this is his last season. Might be worth revisiting the Horford idea in the off-season, which has become more practical with the higher-than-expected cap boost.

I thought he didn't fit with the staring unit. He didn't help rebounding (had part of the blame on Aldrich dominating in the 1st half), he had his own 3 turnovers, 2 costly ones at the start of the 4th, when we were carrying momentum from the end of the 3rd quarter... but, again, I don't think he sucked or anything, he was just over his head at times, IMO... I expect him to be further along than Simmons at this stage, but he's clearly not ready to compete against other team's starters, especially decent teams like the Clippers...

The time for Horford was today before 2pm Eastern. That ship has sailed. We should have shipped the Hawks Tony, Boris and 2 or 3 picks for Horford and Teague.

I share the same concern as you with our backcourt and have expressed that elsewhere (which I suspect has made me a target for some heat from some trolls).

TD is a concern bc father time is catching on, and he hasn't had a good game in a long time. We need him too. He could be out of rhythm but it could be more than that.

I missed LMA entirely, but he went on a tear when playing those games without TD and I wonder if the spacing was the issue or what?

He's not Kawhi Leonard, but he totally would be starting if he were on the Clippers. And he played no time at the four tonight, so I don't agree that he was responsible for Cole heating up. But he does need to learn how to box out bigger guys effectively. He could guard his man, and his man couldn't guard him. So yeah, I think he's capable of being a starter right now.

Shouldn't have done that. I mean with the higher-than-projected cap increase, the Spurs are actually getting closer to having a max slot this off-season.

Spacing can't be an issue when a player is isolated on a postup

It would have made total sense for the Hawks to take on not one but two bad contracts & ty draft picks when the Celtics are offering them a lotto pick just for Horford.

The Good LMA shoots PnPs facing the basket or takes it strong to the hole. The Bad LMA shoots those TURRIBLE fade-always. The Bad LMA showed up tonight.

Smarty pants you know what I'm talking about. LMA was on the right wing w/ Moute on him & the side was cleared but he couldn't back him down. Spacing:
