I thought the rumor was he was seeking a long term contract this offseason from the Nets?
Seems like he's trying hard to negotiate a buyout with the Nets. The popular rumor out there is that if he does agree to a buyout that he wants to go play with the Cavs.
Do any of you think the Spurs would have a small chance of signing him if he does get bought out? Would the Spurs even be interested? Would any of y'all want him to sign here?

Maybe 0.001% chance. Danny Granger bound.
Wouldn't mind taking a look at Granger....
Between Johnson and Granger there should be one guy who you'd atleast consider, his name's not Danny.
Man Lebron is a player with no shame.
Dude is pathetic and one of the most overrated players of all-time even if he is one of the true greats.
He would be good in limited minutes because he can handle the ball like a point guard and score against most defenders. Obviously he wouldn't be an all star, but he could be useful off the bench and play Manu's role if he was willing to do so.
To be honest, he could be helpful against GS because he could run the point and then guard Harrison Barnes leaving Danny and Kawhi to guard the Splash Brothers. I don't see how Tony can play big minutes vs Warriors and Manu can't play PG for 48 minutes in the playoffs.
Kyle can play the point![]()
Im not trusting a second year player that hasn't done well enough to earn consistent minutes in the regular season to play point guard at key times against the best team in the playoffs playing on the western conference finals stage. I doubt Pop wants to trust him either. Johnson off the bench would be a much better option, but he would prob sign with Cavs.
Johnson would he an awesome fit but I don't see him coming
I'll take Johnson's offense over Green's offense any night.
He would be fine if Manu was out for the season, but otherwise, he would be a terrible fit..
He's completely useless without the ball in his hands, which doesn't work in the Spurs' system..this reminds me of when Spurs fans wanted Granger and Butler![]()
We need a manu/tp insurance though. He isn't completely washed up. I would pick him up.
He's not going to accept a role as Manu insurance, though..he's horrible as an off-ball player, and he probably wouldn't accept that role, anyways..
He could go to Cleveland and become the 6th man, since they don't have any decent bench creators..they have Dellavoda running their bench unit..a guaranteed role as the primary guy on the bench + a guaranteed trip to the Finals..
Yeah. Probably bad if he plays less than 10mpg.
I wouldn't necessarily say he's terrible off the ball b/c he a very good spot up shooter (he played well while sharing the ball w/ Deron/Pierce when he mauled DeRozan in the postseason). He just doesn't cut or move without the ball.
His game probably suits OKC's style since their offense is based on isolation which suits his style & they BADLY need a wing-player.
I wouldn't compare him to Granger/Butler b/c Granger was physically done & Butler was a slasher who morphed into a spot up shooter.
U are dead right. He would be awesome if he filled the mins Manu couldn't play. Also I like him vs warriors. Perfect lineup for warriors Johnson playing point but guards Barnes with Kawhi, green,LMA and Duncan or we can swap Duncan for west or Diaw it all depends how the chemistry at the end of season with west as defender. It will be talked about if we get to west finals and in 4th quarter no big 3 in game because they can't help that much for the closing. I can see it happening but I just hope it's Parker. The guy can't play against Russell or steph. That's when Johnson comes in place.
He's hit a lot of game winners in his career.
I would take him in the Finley role... but just this season, no extensions, tbh...
Spurs are already stacked at the 4
