Pretty worrisome that our bench still relies so heavily on a 38 year-old Manu...just gotta hope he can bounce back and be healthy for the playoffs. This team is going nowhere without him playing at a relatively high level.
"He's Manu Ginobili." Of course it's going to be a big deal. You are right- we really need him. I too can only hope he can get back to speed once he is physically able. I'm thinking more like 8 weeks considering the severity and type of injury. The idea of him getting thrown back into the fire anything less than gradually doesn't make sense. Maybe we are about to witness another Spurs miracle- it's happened before!

He could swim at least to keep his cardiovascular shape. Hopefully he's doing that daily.

It highly doubt it..It is injury that is going to destroy his overall physical preparedness ..I heard Woj saying team sources that Manu wouldn't be able to mount on a stationary bike for probably a month at least..
. Wow poor Manu... affects his conditioning. Thanks for sharing this, as well as your list above. I am with you in erring on the side if Pop's caution. 6 weeks the more realistic target and he might even be on minutes restriction for a couple of games or so while he works his way back into shape.

I would bet he returns March 10th against Chicago. Tough home stand there.

It's been a good preview of the team after he retires. As for Manu he's going to lose his mind after he retires.

yep, he's always been slow, outta sync when coming back from injury lay offs, and older now.

But he's never been muscular and always super low-fat

cute cat. iirc it's named ElNono as an inside joke between Manu and his agent.

Well nothing like a good cat to help with Manu's recovery.....his cat will help with his mystical focus as he prepares for the determined push to the top.

I hope he gets well but I'm a little concerned about bringing him back so close to the playoffs when he's nowhere close to conditioning wise and our team is already gelling without him.

As long as he is healthy for the playoffs, I'm ok with him resting all the time he wants to fully recover.

Actually it isn't that worrisome when you consider that Manu's playing limited minutes (19mpg) compared to previous seasons. That tells how hard it is to beat HoF talent. Even at 38 y/o.

This could be a blessing in disguise. All this rest may allow him to go harder when the playoffs are here.

Well this is what everyone, including him I'm sure, are hoping. If he comes back in late March he would have a few weeks to get back into form and be a rested and mentally determined for the playoffs. I'm really hoping he and Tim come back for one more year, but either way- this is it or close to it!

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Manu Ginobili is recovering slowly from testicular surgery. Popovich said that really all Ginobili can do basically is shoot baskets carefully. Popovich joked Ginobili is shooting gingerly hoping the ball doesn't bounce back.

Still a long way to go it seems..

"Then, Ginobili moved well. He went through some shooting drills, and he played some non-contact, one-on-one with a staffer.

He still has a way to go, and he’s wearing some protection he didn’t wear before. But the Spurs are now optimistic. If Ginobili continues to progress as expected, they think he could be back for a few minutes as early as March 10 against Chicago."
