It doesn't show in the standings because they are based on simple calculations: basically comparing the game break of the 9th seeded team with the number of remaining games. In case of the Jazz their GB vs the Spurs is 21.5 and remaining games 22.

Right now the Jazz are 28-31 and could theoretically finish 51-31 ahead of the Spurs (imagining the Spurs lose all their remaining games they would finish 50-32). The Spurs lead the season series 3-0 with one game remaining so they hold the tiebreaker and the Jazz have to win out and the Spurs to lose out to push the Spurs out of the playoffs.

However, apart from the fact that it would mean the Jazz beat the Warriors twice , it would also mean they beat Houston once. The Rockets would be 29-32 and could only finish 50-32. But the Spurs again hold the tiebreaker, having won the season series 3-1.

TL;DR: The Spurs hold the tiebreaker against both the Jazz and the Rockets, and both of these teams can't finish 51-31, so the Spurs have effectively clinched a spot in the playoffs.

note: I didn't entertain the thought of the Jazz and Rockets winning their divisions, that would basically mean every other team in the West finishes 50-32 and I don't even know if that's possible given the number of remaining games between playoffs teams.

Spurs haven't clinched the tie-breaker over Houston yet. Well, they have in a two-way scenario. But in a four-way tie with Houston, SA, LAC and OKC, Houston could win the first tie-break (by sweeping everyone else from here on out to a 7-5 record), LAC could win the second (by sweeping the remaining non-Houston common games for a 5-2 record), and OKC can win the third (by sweeping SA 4-0), which would leave the Spurs home.

He was talking about three teams for two spots. In that case, the Spurs have an ironclade edge. But looking at five teams for four spots, there is still a REEEEEEEALY small chance the Spurs could miss out.
If the Jazz manage to beat the Warriors twice I'll say they deserved it

You find that more impressive that the extremely complicated scenario that has to happen for Houston to get the tie-breaker?

Utah winning out is a prerequisite to said scenario...

Might as well play the Powerball if you think the scenario outlined is going to happen

They have not. But they have about as good of a chance at drafting Ben Simmons as they do at missing the playoffs.

Rest for the rest of the season. Get 8th seed and play GS early.
