Pop got his "corporate knowledge" philosophy from Pat Riley: Juwan Howard was worse than Bonner & he eventually got a coaching job, now it's Haslem.
well played

welcome to the SA Spurs K-Martin.....
KMart will take the role that Brett Barry and Steve Kerr held. He is a deadly three point shooter which is what the Spurs need.
He is Marco level as a defender but might be even worse.
I know that the West and Bobo pairing has gotten better defensively as the season progressed but something has to give. No way you can run a Mills, Martin, Manu, Bobo and West lineup. That has to be a ing horrendous defensive lineup.
Agreed. Boris declining doesn't help. D west hasn't been playing well lately either, but with Manu back I would expect him to improve. Our bench has always been a paper tiger but they have been scrappy specially with Manu.
Unfortunately, I have flashbacks of Austin Rivers and Livingston ting all over Patty. I definitely saw a role for A.Miller. Martin? Meh a situational player to me. Honestly depends how he's playing. Has to be lights out like Marco was at times to justify his playing time.
That's what I'm here for![]()
Barry/Kerr were spot up shooters, K-Mart is like a more efficient/bigger version of Lou Williams who gets to the line with his gimmicky jump shots/floaters.![]()
Offense: One of the most impressive young scorers in the game right now. Can score in a variety of unorthodox ways. Will make significant contributions as a finisher in transition, a one-on-one player, a spot up shooter, and a ball handler in pick and roll situations. Doesn’t display a textbook shot in terms of fundamentals by any means, but is one of the most consistent and efficient shooters in the game, both on the catch and shoot or off the dribble. Can score from everywhere. Will knock down shots with contact, a hand in his face, and off balance. Has amazing touch and superb creativity improvising offensively. Terrific ball handler. Will get to the rim at a superb rate. Displays an extremely quick first step, and will run the floor hard in transition. A master at using shot-fakes to keep his defender off-balance. Uses his length and athleticism at the rim. Finishes at a high clip with contact despite his lanky frame. Goes to the line like a machine and shoots a great percentage. Lead the entire NBA in free throws made in 07-08. Has a terrific feel for moving off the ball and putting himself in position to make a play. Timing, awareness is superb. Not a playmaker at all in terms of creating for others, but also doesn’t turn the ball over all that much. Willingness to become a better passer could be what puts him over the hump.

He should have choose Golden State tbh
Butler not getting cut tonight is good news imo. Though I wouldn't doubt that the Spurs gave Bonner the night to sleep on it, if he wants to retire or not. He's not or wants to play with anyone else in the league from what I know, so if he's released it's pretty much over for him. Matt seems like a great guy, and he has sacrificed being in street clothes majority of this season to give the younger guys (Boban,Simmons,McCallum(When he was here) playing time. Instead of rotting on the bench twirling his arms on stupid traveling calls that they're not going to call in the NBA. Think Butler is little overrated on this forum tbh, but he can bring a lot more than Matt can bring at this point of their careers.
My feelings exactly. Like Matty, he's vastly underrated by the ST crowd, but Butler should be the one staying.
I remember when Kevin Martin was an up and coming star with the Kings. This guy could really score the ball, but pretty much everything else about his game was suspect in varying degrees.
Good pickup for the Spurs though, it's going to be interesting to see how much Martin has left in the tank. As he probably won't be playing much, durability shouldn't be too much of a concern anyway.
Butler and Anderson can easily be the Spurs new big replacing Bonner as a stretch 4, i bet my ass Anderson is longer than TRex Bonner & be more effective as defender and playmaker, while Butler can whip Bonner on athleticism department and matching him shot per shot too as long range bomber.
Why? He fits better with the Spurs and no way the Warriors go 16-0 in the playoffs, not happening because teams will make adjustments and they can be beat. The Spurs have enough to beat the Warriors, but easier said than done of course.
It should be Bonner. He's useless, Simmonds should be kept.
Boban is no playing, I hope they don't waive him
No they won't. They probably activated Bonner for his last game at home. I dare say Bonner is retiring if he was told he is getting waived. Maybe his calf injury just isn't up for the NBA and he knows there is no point learning a new system, living in a new system that isn't the Spurs, whilst dealing with this injury? Maybe the Spurs offered him a suit and tie role?
Your avatar, Benoit, reminds me of the times I gave a good tip to my shoe shine man - that BIG, BIG smile......
Maybe you can shine my shoes some day Benoit.
I'm not a huge fan of his game, I think he's a great shooter but I have some serious concerns about his defense. Hopefully he'll be more focused on that end on a great team but he's been an average-to-mediocre defender his entire career, I doubt that will chance now that he's 33.
basketball lords willin'...
Not every player is gonna be a two way player so long as they are more effective on one end to offset the other Beli, Neal and Blair come to mind. I think that he could be useful against GSW if Pop is forced to pull mils because Livingston is bullying him.
