Thread needs to end like Jimmer's NBA career...i.e. quickly. Yes, he got a raw deal in NY. Yes, NY brass wanted him on the team to sell tickets, and yes, Jimmer is a marketable player. But Rambis wanted to win and he saw Jimmer as a publicity stunt rather than a legit basketball move. Now Rambis sucked as a white player and I'm sure he thinks all white players suck like he did, so I'm sure the idea of adding a slow, white point guard who isn't really a playmaker was a sure ticket to a losing streak, and he benched him and gave him no opportunity to show his skills on the big stage. Instead, Rambis went on a losing streak with his best players. Tells you how good a coach he is. But Jimmer is not making it in the NBA at 27. He's a great basketball player. One of the best in the world, but not top 300, which is what it takes to land an NBA job. He should go to Europe and make millions playing in the Euro League where his game will translate nicely and where Spurstalk's Think Tankers can speculate wildly about bringing him back as a Spur for the next five years.
You're putting a lot of narrative into something as simple as jimmer is not that good. It's crazy, every source basically says, he needs to get over himself to stick in the league, but there he goes stat padding in a 20 or blowout with 2 seconds left. Never change jimmer.

Rambis didn't suck-suck as a player. He was in for rebounding and defense. On any other team, he would've had to have developed an offensive game to justify all those minutes. Instead, he was allowed to be spoon fed by Magic and get some o rebounds on Kareem sky hook misses. And Worthy packed a good punch at the other forward spot as well.
And it wasn't a marketing gimmick; and Rambis may have been on board even. But it was clear that Melo was not going to play nice; so, the Knicks do what they do; cater to Melo. I don't know why they thought that this would be any different than the Linsanity drama; but they're a sh***y org, so no surprises.
Jimmer is a quality player who is better than a lot of guards in the league. This is a fact.
