Wrong. Al Qaeda was a very small part of the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan. The Northern Alliance, who the Taliban defeated in the 90s to take over the country, was the majority of the mujahadeen. The Taliban was a creation of Saudi money and Pakistani intelligent training young Afghan refugees.
Also, you also ignored how Ronnie's spending in Afghan had a major affect on the crumbling of the Soviet empire.
