Pop is probably just as surprised to see this team win as many games as they have at this point of the season. I would have been happy with 60 wins

The NBA today is significantly more compe ive than the 90.
FIFY - East has been solid this year. It's a combination of MEM injuries, POR loss of Aldrige (still a playoff team, albeit less wins), HOU getting Kardashian'd, DAL aging, NOP injuries, SAC Boogie missing significant time, PHX imploding and none of the rest of the teams emerging from the abyss.

Expansion killed every sport. Gives spots to scrubs who shouldn't have jobs. Think about 3 more teams that's 45 extra bodies. Take the top 3 guys off the expansion teams from early 90s to now and place them on squads. That's 9 high caliber players on 9 teams if one in each. That changes things dramatically.
This type of offense transcends time......
East is still pretty weak but I agree it's better than the last 5 years or so. 2 years ago the first round of the playoffs was must see TV. Now, it's basically a 4-5 game series for everyone. No way GSW gets the Bulls record 2 years ago...And, makes what our team accomplished so special
People keep saying this but no one has any evidence of that. You don't know how tough the compe ion feels out there. Teams could be having bad records because almost anyone can beat anyone this season BECAUSE teams have improved and equaled out to each other.
In any sport, a good challenger that is equal in skill can make another challenger(team, individual, etc) look like they aren't they good. But i'm not going to act like an expert because you could be correct but there is no way to tell this unless you are out there playing every night for yourself.
Granted there are strong teams like Warriors and Spurs who are a step above most of the rest right now.

Yup. By East being less weak, I meant it more that the bottom of the conference isn't the disaster it once was. Only two absolute disasters in PHI and BKN.
